Not just for surfers but beachgoers...

Postby Dutchy » Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:56 pm

Thought there might be a few out there that like to hit the beach during summer, these surf sites not only have surf reports but some great webcams that scan beaches such as Southport, Seaford, Chtion, Boomer, Knights etc...check them out if you want to know what its like down the beach before you head off...

and if your a surfer they can save you plenty of petrol money!

Just to let everyone know, the guy who does the forecasts for the Mid Coast on Swellnet is a halfwit. Consistently 1-2 foot off. You read the forecast, get excited thinking there's going to be some decent waves there, wake up in the morning, read the surf report and smash your computer. Dead set, the next time swellnet reads 10+ft, I'm going to break out he mal to catch some ripples.

true....thats why always check surfsouthoz also...the other day swellnet had the mid at 3-4ft!, its rarely 3 foot and never ever gets to 4 foot in my 25 years of surfing there....swellnet's Southport cam is great though so you can actually check it yourself.....

The actual surf report for the day is fine just the forecast is ******. 1-2 foot difference in size makes the difference between surfable and not there.

When in the country I find http://www.surf-forecast.com and http://www.buoyweather.com useful. KI buoy not working at the moment though.
