Back 2 Back 20/20??

Postby evans01 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 10:34 pm

i hear that a back to back format for 20/20 games maybe an option....

which would make it about as long as a normal 50 over one dayer.......
not a bad idea as long as the players agreed, i suppose the crowd would get great value for money.........as long as the acb decides not to charge twice as much.........

interesting.......

The attraction now is an event that lasts 3 hours
The attention span for 6 hours might be too taxing on the public over 2 games
Just look at the crowds, younger and entertained at the current format
Cricket has found a way for a short format like soccer/footy/rugby etc
Thats the attraction of 20/20

50 over cricket is doomed.
IPL is the modern day Kerry packer and sparks will start flying soon.
Cricketers are contracted by their respective boards so thy have control over the players, and with the money on offer from India, they will RULE the cricket world in a short space of time unless the boards can do something.

Perhaps you could buy half-day tickets (either half) and leave/arrive as your ticket requires - just like the drive-in!

Logistics would be a little difficult, perhaps wrist bands or similar would be the go for those staying for both games (have a long enough break between for the crowd to be checked by security?).

Just a thought.

if we are going to do that, we are better off just playing a 50/50 over match.

back 2 back 20/20's are bad news for me.

leave it like it is, another idea I would implement would be for the umpire to have a bag of balls like baseball and when the ball goes into the crowd for a six they keep it, would add some great interest in the crowds! and dont use new balls, maybe Kooks burra could come up with a slightly used ball so its consistent thru the 20 overs....

Or perhaps a raffle could be drawn at the ground before the game and the lucky ticket holder gets to bat #11 for the Redbacks - probably have to pad up during over #13!!!

you could have two district teams, or invatational sides play before the main game, just like the reserves before the league.
