There was a streaker on the ground tonight
The Indians will no doubt be upset and catch the first plane home...

Good, glad that's finished. Well done India - you fought a tough game.
Now all the Australia haters can finish lauding the Indian team for playing the same way that they are so willing to bag the current World Champions for.
This has been a horrid summer of cricket and both sides can share the blame for the demeanour in which it's been played. Sadly, only one's bearing that burden and they aren't leaving for India...just yet.

..... as the sun sets on Australia's golden run of the last 15 or so years .... I think we are seeing the start of a power shift on the field in world cricket

We'll still be very competitive but the domination years are over IMO .... for now anyway

The Indians seem to have a number of talented players in their early 20s ... yet our back up players all seem to be 30+

And why did we go in with only 5 specialist batsmen plus Gilly?

In- Cullen (Dare I say it?)
Out- Hogg
SAS's goal tally- 0

I am actually glad that this summer of cricket is over

sick of all the soap drama's between the aussies and india, in the end the aussies allowed india to get to them and it showed in the one day finals

ODI selectoins were very poor

Once Gilly announced his retirement we should of vlooded a new opener, Gilly's lasr goodbye was longer than Whispering Jack's farewell tour, this became a distracrion and Gilly played accordingly.

Hogg, at the age of 37 it was time to blood a spinner at the beginning of the series..

Australia should of experimented with D Hussey in the middle order

I am not convinced S Clark is a ODI bowler, yes he is stump to stump, however he has no change of pace and this makes him too predictable

Poor ODI series by the aussies

Agree DW,im not a whinger but after the way they carried on after the 2nd test to their behavior now is totally hypocritical. I know its different captains and I actually liked the way India stirred up the Aussies during the 1 dayers. But the 2nd test ruined the summer for me. Australia never played the same again all summer after that test aswell......Got caught up in all the bulls**t that india bought in.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

IMO time for tough decisions, if a player is not going to be under serious considerarion for the next ODI world cup, than lets not play them, it is time to build a side for the next ODI world cup, or we will get caught behind

Good call Syd-dog.
Selectors showed a little too much sentimentality throughout the series.
For example, if the lead spinner Hogg was not going to play in the key final, why wasn't a young player brought into the squad?
Hard decision time is now...it starts with this Pakistan trip (if it goes ahead).

However, what will the quality of international squads be in the next year? Other countries are going to be hit just as hard by the 20/20 phenomen.
It will be interesting to see who drops out of the national squads over the coming six months.

It was only a year ago we lost the final of the same tournament 2-0 to England. Look what happened after that. Don't be so quick to write off the Australian side.

Is anybody going to mention any positives? How about James Hopes? A GENUINE ODI allrounder. What a super performance with both bat and ball. Played with such maturity and never ever should have been taken off at the end of the Indian innings to bring Lee back on. Had Hopes bowled out Australian would have won.

It's not all doom and gloom. Players are fitter and particularly the likes of Haddin, D. Hussey etc. could play for many years to come given they have or will have such late starts to their international careers.

The only concern i have going forward in both forms of the game is the spin bowling options. There are none up to international level. The fact that the names of Cullen and Hauritz are even being mentioned is proof of that. They are shite.
