sure is been played at Sacred Heart senior school. on the main ground. should be a good day.

Should be a very good day. SHC Main one of the best ovals in SA for footy and cricket to play and watch. Lets hope for some good weather and atmosphere. Good initiative by both clubs as they will be the standout game in Div 2.

Has anyone seen how many games are proposed for ANZAC Day this year !

There is 2 for D1, 1 for D2, 2 for D3, 4 in D6 and 1 in D7.

I thought the SAAFL were going to limit the number of games ?!?!

There is almost as many games on the Friday as the Saturday !!!

A couple of clubs have done these games very well over the last couple of years (and made a bit of money) but good luck to them as they did their best to have significant Anzac day themed guests etc. I hope the current proliferation of Anzac day games is not just about making a dollar. I suppose the other reason would be to give their players a 2 day weekend.

It is now obvious that the SAAFL must make a decision regarding the number of games played on Anzac Day. it will not be possible each year to have a game because of when the 25th falls (midweek I believe is too hard on the teams the following Sat), however it's probably a fair and equitable thing to replay the GF's if that will stop the stupidity of more than 1 game per grade.
The SAAFL should have shown some 'balls' in this instance and used the 'first in, first served' policy!

Bandar, great comment, a couple of clubs do it very well. I went to the Gepps V/s Kilburn game a couple of years ago. They had reps from a few RSL clubs, PAE Council, SAAFL, a Digger from both Kilburn & Enfield RSL tossed the coin and the flag was raised with The Last post played etc. Made it a solemn but good touch to start the day. It was more than just a game of football. the diggers loved it!

I believe this year, the Northgate Community & Sports Club (Gepps Cross) has booked the Fiveaa Rock band for the evening , that should be great entertainment for the people after the footie.

Trendsetters? i think so!

Div 6 has 4 out of 5 games on Anzac day which p*sses me off i must admit.
At the end of last season i approached a club close to ours and got the wheels in motion to book in the date, did it thro the correct channels, etc
now it seems that SAAFL treat as not an honour but a farce like everything else they touch

Yeah I'm glad the SAAFL have embraced the concept, but one game per division on ANZAC day is more than enough.

And no offence to anyone from either club, but why are Trinity playing Westminster? Surely they can't be close rivals, since they're on opposite sides of town and have never played each other in the SAAFL before...

I like the idea, but the exclusivity of the day needs to be kept in tact next year. 1 game per division max.

Will there be enough diggers available to attend all of these games, its starting to lose its purpose, i wonder what a club has to pay the SAAFL to host an ANZAC game, anyone?

Fair call Buzz but I suppose as long as there's idiots running the world there will always be a war and therefore "diggers" of some form. It's a really delicate subject to discuss at any time for fear of offending those who have fought or those that lost their forefathers in a war but personally I find any attempt to draw a correlation between war and a football game ludicrous and any significance of going to "battle" is an insult to anyone who's actually done it. I understand the commercial reality of having a day at the club but I cringe at the thought of a coach using Anzac Day as any form of inspiration to play a game of football.

Buzz, that's a fairly synical approach to take, surely you don't believe that the SAAFL would charge a club, or do you?

It begs the question, do you have issues with the SAAFL or a you just a negative person?

Are you serious Rupert My Boy? If anyone comes across as negative it is you! Go back and look at your posts and turn off those Northgate blinkers and try and find something positive to say about anyone or anything.

Sorry Felch but I wasn't referring to Chris Newman. I thought our colleague "Newman" was involved with Ovies,
I stand corrected with my sincere apologies.

I do know that FN is a Broadview follower, the mail about them is not real good either! Struggling for numbers I believe and it's nothing to do with the heat.

This will only be changed through pressure from within the ranks. I think there is a Div 6 game also, Hope Valley v's Houghton
