"Flying under the radar"

Most clubs have recruited a number of high profile recruits for 2008. However each year a few "unhearalded" recruits pop up and have a real impact. Which new recruit(s) do you think will be a suprise packet for your team this year?

From what I saw of him at South, I thought Nathan Twomey was not a bad pick up and could be the surprise recruit.

Handy as a third tall option up forward.

from what i saw of him at South..... his good days are good but he didnt have enough of them. Good in the air but is like a" cow on a waterbed" when the ball hits the deck.

Wouldn't suggest he's "Under the Radar" as such, but at Norwood most of the emphasis has been on Stephen Doyle, and that's perhaps taken some attention away from Simon Phillips who looks a great pickup.

Twomey Looks like he has a good pair of hands. Kicks like a defender though.


Daniel Boyle off the power list seems to be the one to watch out at Centrals. Built like Shannon Hurn he is deceptively quick.

Haven't seen much of him, but word is that Ryan Harris is showing a fair bit of grunt on the track at Unley.

Keep an eye on Luke Saunders at Port, showing great form in the trials and another player with a good pair of hands.
Vinnie Rugolo has slotted in nicely too, few good passages of play up forward yesterday. But he's pretty well known so I wouldn't put him in the 'under-the-radar' category.

I like the look of Centrals big ruckman from the Swans, Earl Shaw. Has good skills, taps the ball down well and seems pretty fit to cover the ground. Pretty handy recruit...

the other Doggies new player I liked the looks of (although he only played in the ressies against WWT) is another Tassie recruit, Keiren McShane.
He isn't overly big, but he seems pretty hard at it, has a good turn of pace and seems to use the ball well.

He does look good in the air.Does bring up the size problem up forward Twomey,Passador ,schwarze,Salter and perhaps Staples latter in the year .But the likes of Biagi and jacky will counter act that.

I have been watching a few kids in the two's trials one stepped up into the league game this week Raynor could be one to watch in the future.
Broadbent last year was talked about on the phone near me by a crows scout .
Still think Couch and Mackie will add some toughness as well but they are bigger names .

Luke Saunders. Looks and plays in a similar style to Paul Chapman.

Also wouldnt be surprised to see big Matt Kerley shock a few this year as well.

Can assure you CP Phillips isn't getting under anyones radar, he is far more of a concern than Doyle. Doyle = injury prone and I personally will be more surprised if he plays more games than he misses.

Not sure but he only played half a game on the weekend .But he looks great .

Luke McCabe. Not much talk and probably not much expected of him and opposition fans at least not too worried about the damage he might do. However, he is a Jack Oatey medallist and played 130 odd AFL games. Perhaps the body won't hold up after a year out, but definitely flying under the rader IMHO. Nathan Steinberner is in a similar position, although my personal view is he has been finished for a couple of years. Hope I'm wrong.

David Trotter will play some really good footy for Norwood this year and, so far anyway, seems to have avoided the harsh glare of the SANFL limelight.

Apparently CDFC chased him hard but he knocked them back for Norwood.
