Jolly sat in the goal square all game. so some positive signs.

any other results from last night?

modbury did play very in first half. looked like they had a few a graders in their b grade too. there full forwarded was a gun. didnt miss even from the most ridiculous angles. lofty were missing 7 from their starting 18 but sure modbury were in same position. modbury were very good in first half. they ran hard and looked very modbury did lose all their run in second half. lofty didnt gel at all but in second half started playing very and had a chnace to win the game in last couple minutes. good quality game tho

Score line was very even up untill half time, when portland made a some changes and put a few b and c graders on. Then it was all over, saying that no 1 kept score. But of course there was the old story of people not playing, but it came from both sides. Overall, 4 1/2 stars from me :D

Umpiring was terrible Felch!!!

even? I got there at 9am and I saw about 7 goals from Walkies before I saw one from Portland. (one which hit my car, but my fault for parking it behind the goals ) Boo to one cats fellow who celebrated his goal like he'd just won a grand final for them, take note buddy, its a TRIAL game, goal celebrations are rather unneccesary...

Scrappy game but you expect nothing less from two teams having their first hit out for the year.

As an umpire, Im sure Felch makes a great coach...lol

WOW that is a very negative outlook on a game that wasnt that bad :D
And your maths is also very poor, walkies kicked the first 3 goals at the start yes, but by the end of the third quater i can assure you it was very close.

I may have missed the first quarter as I didnt get there till jsut after 9am. I'll be the first to admit my maths is shocking  but Walkies were kicking to the bowling green end and I sat in my car for the first 10 mins or so. In that time I saw at least 4 goals from Walkies, the one which hit my car and the one with the soccer celebration.

Not being negative Bob, just realistic, what type of standard would you be expecting from two clubs having their first hit out in bloody hot conditions. Just becuase I said it was scrappy I didn't mean it was crap. Looks like Portland had a few players out (saw a couple of familiar faces on the sideline).

Portlands hardness was impressive and probably closed to matched that of Walkies. No.33 was impressive and thought he performed well. tackle of the day to the Portland bloke who chased his man down and jumped on him in front of the grandstand. A few 2nd efforts let them down.

the Cats general skill was a lot better on the day but this is what one would expect from a team that finished 3rd in div 3 last year.

Not being a smarty here either but don't forget I'm accustomed to a higher level of footy too.

Pretty fair assessment FC. Walkies were alot more cleaner with their skills, and also their willingness to run and receive for each other. I think Bob is right though, as far as the score line. It was something like 8 goals each after the first 3 quarters. Walkies kicked a few early ones, but Portland pegged that back in the second and third quarters. It was only a trial though and both sides were missing key players im sure.

It was a great hitout for all concerned, and played in fantastic spirit.

And the umpiring was first-class, actually it was the highlight of the whole day !

Its just no fun unless you can hang crap on the ump though Felch!

Also in my own defence, I think I have to learn how to start watching footy again, as for almost 15 years Ive been accustomed to watching a step BEHIND play, which is why I probably missed a lot of the goals..

Ingle Farm A grade either lost by 1 point or drew against Houghton and the Ingle Farm B grade lost against Houghton by 3 or 4 goals.....

I just spoke to someone who was there, Compass only had basically one team there, Fitzroy had nearly 40 blokes. They played their stronger side in the last 3 quarters of the 6 quarter game. Apparentely Compass belted them in the first 3, the second 3 was more of an even affair.

I thought the highlight was the 2 holding the ball decisions, they were right on the money.

FC, I think you're mistaking Pooraka for some other 2007 Div 4 Premiership team who wear black and white...
