Yep, and that's deemed by people with a lot more knowledge and evidence on the subject in question than anyone on a fans forum:

"The salary cap dealings of the nine clubs were investigated and South is the only club to be called to a hearing."

That's pretty much what the article alludes to,

South summoned over salary cap
By DOUG ROBERTSON
29apr06

SOUTH Adelaide has been called to explain alleged salary cap breaches from last year.

The SANFL has summoned the Panthers to a hearing on May 9 at West Lakes to considered "alleged breaches of the regulations".

The league claims the alleged breaches were identified in the annual review by salary cap officer John Condon.

The salary cap dealings of the nine clubs were investigated and South is the only club to be called to a hearing.

"If the allegations are confirmed they will be dealt with at that hearing," SANFL chief executive Leigh Whicker said.

If a penalty is deemed appropriate it would be metered out at the hearing, to be chaired by SANFL president Rod Payze.

South Adelaide general manager Ben Kavanagh confirmed he had received the league's request to attend the hearing but he would not comment further.

Questions over South's salary cap dealings last season first arose officially in November at a league directors' meeting. One former player is said to have delivered two contracts - one official, the other a hidden contract - he had signed last year which showed different match payments.

Under the present salary cap regulations the league has the power to impose a fine but not to enforce a loss of premiership points. Central District and the Eagles have been fined for breaches since the salary cap was introduced in 1999.

Good coming from a supporter who's club has "intimate" knowledge and experience of cheating the cap! I think your neighbours up the Port Road would be more concerned for this year!

if south are found guilty, how big is the fine ??? centrals didn't care
a couple of years ago, they won a premiership and said it was worth
paying the fine. there may be other teams that are also breaching the
cap but south got dobbed in and got caught out...

It is far more important to keep South in the competition than to penalise them...!

From what I am told, $ for $ on the amount they exceed the cap, is the fine. But I think they can X by 3 if it is proven to be extremely blatant.

South WILL blame the previous GM and seek mercy. And probably succeed, however my mail is HE was not responsible.

G'day dogger. Good luck today, but I hope we beat you.

Yes it seems south are to be brought to heel over this matter. If they are found guilty, they are guilty of one thing only:breaking the 11th commandment - "thou shalt not get caught."
The spirit of the salary cap regulations were initiated to stop the more financial clubs gaining an unfair advantage over others. Someone please demonstrate/explain to me how last year south benefited from an unfair advantage?
