If we had a promotion and relegation system such as in english football, it actually would be a belter!

Got to say. I've just arrived back home from being at game today. Sturt are absolutely woeful, Don't know what to make of South, eventual margin of around 48 but could have easily been almost 100. Sturt got a few late goals to put some sort of respectibility on the board. I think South will be found out against sides like Port, North, Glenelg & Eagles.

Is it my imagination or is Cupido obviously enjoying the benefits of a less concentrated fitness regime? I think he looks huge in comparison to what I've seen when he was at Brisbane and Essendon.

He has fat syndrome AH. When he dislocated his shoulder at Brissy, he put on 5kg in 5 weeks and struggled to lose it. He is naturally a bigger bodied bloke anyway I think, wouldnt say he is fat by any stretch of the imagination!

Not many from what you can tell off the TV and you would think that South were playing away and they have no supporters - hardly a noise when they scored - disgrace for a home game as it was when North played there in round 2. I have no doubt even though Sturt are struggling there would have been more Sturt supporters there - looked that way when they panned on the hill and from the "few" in the outer.

Not suprising, every football follower who lives in the southern suburbs was at SFL games like they have been for 100 years, with maybe a few wanting to watch the Crows.

I suppose there had to be one game today during the arvo for the ABC and they drew the short straw?

good points wedgie, I would think possibly 1200 -1300 at noarlunga today.
But the game was also live on abc, it also clashed with the crows game on tv as well. your point re; the Southern football league I beleive is also a very valid one. the SFL is a very strong and well supported comp. and unless South begin to somehow have consistent success the crowds at noarlunga will always be sparse.

Agree blueandwhite and its also a good about the ABC coverage as I failed to mention that, I should also qualify my last post as its not "every" football follower in the south but a large majority. The southern suburbs have a unique feel to it as opposed to most other areas of Adelaide (but perhaps a comparison with Central a few years ago)
The Bays traditionally get larger crowds on Sundays too in recent times and as much as I don't like Sunday footy I quite often see different people at Sunday games at Prospect in recent years as a few of the Kilburn/Broadview/Gaza lads go on a Sunday to watch North.
South should look at Sunday footy and perhaps Saturday night footy in the warmer months, it'd be hard to organise because of reserves/etc but perhaps having SFL clubs involved in a pre South league match too might be an idea.

I know of a lot of SFL lads who went to a few South games when they first moved to Noarlunga just to have a look at Danny Delrae too as there's not a lot of SANFL support down there but they love their AFL. I played footy/cricket down there for years and all of my mates and co players were amazed I still followed the SANFL as passionately as I do as they thought it had finished in 1990!

Of the 1400 there I'd be really surprised if more than 200 were South supporters. Certainly on the hill there were bugger-all except for the 4 or 5 clowns who thought they were the old hecklers out of the Muppets, tellingly knowing a lot more about Sturt's players than their own. Oh how we laughed at their Cafe Mondiali and latte references all day. Man it's a weird feeling getting razzed by South fans though!

Saddest sight of the day - South's Panther mascot was set up like Father Christmas for kiddies to sit on his lap for a photo with a player also. Let's just say the queues weren't exactly long and winding....poor guy.
