Good question but IMHO still can't be answered, all we can say is "if on current form the flag was won would would be the threats"?
This time last year we would have written of Central/s but I didn't and still refuse to this year.

BUT on current form you'd say North(depending on tomorrow's result) and Port and then a gap. (in no specific order)
Then Glenelg, South, Norwood, Eagles, Central then a gap.(in no specific order)
Then Sturt and West.(in no specific order)

I'm hoping the season doesn't become too predictable too early. Yes, it looks as thought Sturt and West Adelaide's chances are dwindling, but round 5 is a little too early to write teams off. I recall 1984 when Norwood won 1 of their first 6 games, and their losses were huge. History recalls Norwood recovered to win the flag that year.

Port Adelaide and North Adelaide are looking sound, the Eagles will always be around the mark, and I never write off the reigning premiers too early. South Adelaide looks to be dangerous, but their histpry tells us not to get to carried away about their chances. I hope for their sake they finally have a rewarding season soon. Glenelg are the unknown quantity at the moment, today may tell a few stories about the Tigers.

I think my club Norwood showed on Friday night how far behind the top teams we are at present and they have a lot of work to do.

At the moment my final 5 consists of Port, North, Central, Eagles, South, but that may change over the next few weeks.

The results of West and Sturt have shown how much the economic strength of your club is going to have a bearing to your on field success more than in any other era.

The ability to recruit fringe AFL or quality VFL players is going to be so important as the AFL will continually take all quality home grown talent before the SANFL side he is aligned to has a chance to benefit from the players talents.

I have Norwood in that 5th spot fighting with south. History shows the better club in Norwood will get the spot. However the superior South cattle may get them there.

west can still make it look at norwood last year they only just missed out on a finals birth sturt are gone though they need to rebuild like westies last year

LOL I applaud your support for your club Sarge, but I'm not sure you can really seperate the situations of both the Blues and Bloods at the moment ... Barring any unforseen injuries or major changes with AFL-listed players, the Premier can only come from Port, North or Centrals imho ... Agree with Hawk that unfortunately the Legs showed how far behind Port they are and feel that they could cop an even worse L against the devastating Roosters attack, so I would be inclined to agree with his selection of the 5!

The key for Norwood more than anything is their results against the Dogs, Eagles and Panthers ... Some new ground needs to be broken for the team to genuinely take another step on last season (ala a win against the Eagles, or victory at Elizabeth) and unfortunately I have severe doubts over this, hope they prove unfounded!

FWIW, i think it will be between north, port and the eags...centrals behind them...norwood and south to battle for 5th...but i hate to leave the bays out of that...

for my baby blues...its just a matter of ...i dont know...finding a few guns amongst their jrs that wont get drafted
