Does your club like or loathe the concept?

Fitzroy will always look to play Triple Headers where possible- it's generally our opponents who knock it back (if they do).

It depends which side of the fence you sitting on.

From a club perspective they are sensational because everyone is in one place at the same time, good for players, supporters, support staff, the canteen and the bar. You get the chance to watch your mates in the C grade who you wouldn't normally get to watch and vice versa.

However its a VERY long day for a sole trainer or someone that does pretty much everything by themselves and only has help running water (for example).

With Triple Header, 10:15am or 3pm (usually by negotiation)

the one uni were involved in (v gepps cross) last year was sensational. the c1 team plays the same time as the a grade and therefore never got to see them. our start times were that the b's started at 10.45 then the c1 grade at 12.30 or thereabouts then the a grade. the reasoning behind this was that the players only had to get two hours earlier than normal rather than four hours if the c1 had played the early game. this also had the effect that the b's and a's watched the c1 game rather than just rocked up later and missed it.

we then ate the curry that a player had made, shared some stone's green ginger wine and watched the a grade win of their two wins for the season.

but generally uni will find it hard to triple headers due to the fact that having 8 teams means that 4 play home and 4 away each week meaning that a triple header erodes that support that an earlier team can generate (especially when voluntary staff are hard to come by). but i do believe that the club wants to play some which is important.

triple headers are a seriously good idea
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

I love the concept personally and have played in a few for Modbury. last year we played Paynham in a triple header and was a great day and night even though it rained constantly. Good crowd and money for the club. Players stayed around after for some late dinner and a few beers and was a complete success

love the triple headers out at the grove.

Had some good ones against heccies and hope valley last year.
Usually set up to culminate in an a-grade night game if we a playing at Harpers field.
Due to the young average age of our side we generally get some pretty good support from all the local kids/teenagers. When you add that to all the c-graders, b-graders and regulars, it ends up with great bar sales, great support and atmosphere and an empty barbeque plate followed by a night of mischief back at the club house. The old blokes dont seem to mind the younger lads bringing the younger local ladies back to the club either

Bullshite  It was a bloody horrible day.. especially in that rubble you call a visitors changeroom, it was disgusting. It was raining so hard that by the B grade game there was a massive pool of water in the change room and it stank like mould. Not to mention running around in mud up to my friggin knees and nearly going AOT on about 4 occasions trying to walk from the Coaches box to the change room. End of rant :D

I was offered a position out at Modbury this year but turned it down and said under no circumstances would I work in those changerooms.

But yes Blues08, there were plenty of people around despite the weather and you guys did well out of the day. I just wish I was in a better frame of mind to enjoy it more
Modbury is supposed to return the favour this year when we get our lights.

Think they're an awesome idea, although Div 2 might struggle with them with Uni, SMOSH, Athelstone etc all having C & D grades in Div 7.

Everyone in Div 3 get on board the triple-header bandwagon!

I sympathise with you FC but new changerooms i believe are in the plans of the near future. I have played at league ovals(prospect Oval) which was worse than Modbury as far as water in the rooms to the extent you had to put your socks and boots on outside ontop of the wall. please not the home rooms arnt much better. But we do with what we have hahaha

IM sure Modbury would jump at the chance to return the favour.

I'm not sure if we asked for a triple header and Hectorville rejected it, but our c grade is instead playing at Daly oval at 12.15 so both teams can come back and watch the A grade later on. Not ideal, but good for the C grade lads to get to see the A bangers in action

Not many clubs will agree to a triple against a college side because of facilities or lack thereof
