Both North and Central will be better sides if and when these injured players come back. Long season though and lots can happen between now and October.

For what is worth I rate Cowans very highly. I have always thought is the crucial key to the dogs fwds with his pace, ground skills and overhead ability. The arguement that he is more value to a side or he is better because he played in 3 or so permierships is a flawed arguement. Now Barrie Robran only played in 2 premierships does that mean Cownas is better than him. I think we know the arguement to that question.

Re Alleway - he has not proved himself yet but he will suprise a lot of people when he gets on the park.

Come on mate. Anyone in the know in the football world knows Alleway has a higher market value than Cowans despite the fact he hasn't proven himself at SANFL yet. This is in no way putting Cowans down. Any way its really a pointless argument that we shouldn't even be bothering with so lets end it.

Premierships are not won on the market value of players. What Cowans did in the GF went a long way to adding to the trophy cabinet last year. He is a proven big game player.

Not one thing I have said shows I disagree with your comment there.

All I am saying is that Alleway would add strength to the side.

Until he gets on the park and puts some performances on the board at this level he is nothing more then a high profile recruit with big wraps and we all know we have seen plenty of them before

good post and that is the exact same thing you would hear if the arguments were reversed...

same with OKeefe from sturt...he has done ******* nothing this year after a limited preseason which we at sturt knew was going to be bad news...and guess what...he is struggling to get a kick and cope with the level of SANFL...but, he was rated so highly and won 2 flags with sandy...means jackshit when you change leagues...you all start at zero.

Box Hill captain and Victorian sate centre half forward means the guy can play.

well, i guess we'll wait and see, if he ever gets on the park lol

Drebin, of course not, Robran is in a class of his own, but we know this from his extended record at SANFL level, games played, state games, magarey medals, goals kicked.....

What we are saying in this case, we have all seen over the years that plenty of high profile recruits come from interstate and failed to fire at SANFL level, so lets not judge on reputation but on performance, so at present until Alleway gets himself out of the medical room and on to the park and performing, reputations mean nothing and he is not doing the job that the NFC has paid him to do.....

In regards to Cowan, I rate our comp as the best standard outside of the AFL, so any palyer who has proven to be able to perform at SANFL level, at a successful club in the hardest position on the ground and represent their SA, for me this carries more weight, then a high profile recruit who has not even be able to get himself out of the medical room.

Reputations mean little in our great game, performances for our clubs mean everything

What he is saying is true tho RM.

Both sides of the argument have been presented well.

I agree sydney-dog but I have confidence that Alleway (when he finally gets on the park - cue his nickname "Phantom" !) he will be a star in this comp.

Re failed duds from interstate - North have had a barrell full over the years e.g. Marty Whitelaw, Craig Burrows (and to think he played in the AFL as well!)
