Ive seen him play better games for the Gawler Districts 35+s

He was carrying an injury. It shows the closeness of the SANFL to the AFL - lose a little bit and a great AFL player can't even cut it in the SANFL!

the doggies recruiting over the past ten years has been first class, with Hulm, D Stevens, Ford, Arnott, Bello and the Gowans, but I also agree with Dog4ever we have enticed a couple of players back to the club after they have past their expiry date, Platten was one, Greg McAdam was another and I think Gilbert came back the same year as Platt's did from memory

Marty McKinnon had one very good game with the Legs and moments in others, but you'd have to question taking on someone of his age who had been out of football for so long, who then only went on to play about 5 games ... Robbie Ahmat is another who springs to mind, but as a rule I think we've done well with most recruits who arrived with any sort of "name" associated with them.

Yes it was. A very disappointing year after signing the big names. I think the club learnt from that and now recruits younger players who are up and coming usually. That's one reaon I am very sceptical about the clubs who have been using the chequebook heavily over the off-season.

Came to Alberton in '82.

Believe it or not, he was a regular in Johnny Cahill's last season as coach before going to Collingwood.

Hardly got a game when Ebert took over.

Not sure if that proves he was a good or bad player?

Anyway for Norwood, in recent history, John Giorgio. Came for one season, sucked in finals games and buggered off. People with longer memories than me reckon that Alan Killigrew (RIP) receruited a lot of duds during his time at The Parade.

Dimmatina

Bayman and tassiemedalist, I think you're talking about Frankie Dimmatina. Paul still played for the bulldogs up til a couple of years ago.

Darren Stenhouse from QLD for the Doggies.Remember Bello on 5AA saying he was Fraser Gehrig like, maybe he was talking about the guys looks.WE dont pick up too many ex AFL listed players as we cant afford it these days but I`d have to say Gary Gunn from Footscray,he didnt stay long.

In recent memory, I'd have to go with Michael Polley.
Somehow cracked it for 6 AFL games in Balme's last coaching year for Melbourne in '97
Might have played one or two games for us but I wouldn't be surprised if it was none.
Went up to Mt Lofty in the Hills after that and he hardly set the world on fire up there either.

Georgiou is back playing VFL I think. Could not keep his footing to save his life.

Other Norwood duds:

Steve Richardson (the "Tan Man")
Justin Staritski (struggled like McKinnon)
Andrew Maclean
Doug Smart (absolute shocker)

You shouldn't feel too bad, St Kilda must have thought he could play too as he debuted for them as a 16 year old in about '92 and think it might have been against the Crows too.

Justin Staritski actually returned to the club after his days in Melbourne, was a more than handy player prior to trying his luck in the AFL system imho ...

Bit unfair, I heard his knees were buggered after his Hawthorn career. A great player and a nice bloke too.
