Foxtel

Postby abber » Tue Apr 15, 2008 10:44 am

I've been trying for 5 weeks to get Foxtel connected to my house.
In that time I've had 2 bookings made where nobody turned up to install and consequently have wasted 2 Saturdays.
The first booking I confirmed 3 times by phone and also received an SMS telling me to be home between 7 and 12. I was there, they didn't show. I then had to ring a number of times to see what the problem was. Finally I was told the problem had been sorted and another booking was made for 12/4. Once again, they didn't show. I rang again and finally got through to a team leader who committed to find out what the problem was and get back to me yesterday. He didn't, but I did get another SMS confirming my booking being for 12/4, 2 days after the event. I rang Foxtel on the no. provided on the SMS only to be told I had rung a no. at Telstra and they had noticed a lot of these calls lately.
Got back on to Foxtel who told me they'd get the team leader from before to ring me back. He didn't.
I've now spoken to 11 people. 5 have told me they'll call back. None of them have. I've lodged a complaint with Foxtel's Customer advocate but they advise on their website they will take 10 business days to get back to me.
I only want Foxtel for the sport and if there was an alternative I could go to them. I've still got no idea if I'll ever get installed. Anyone got any ideas or contacts.

Select TV is owned by the WIN corporation but is just Foxtel with less channels available.
A very base package and as far as I'm aware only has one sports channel.
Was bought by the company specifically to target the 'ethnic' audience in Melbourne/Sydney as those groups seem not to be taking pay tv as much as others.
Have owned it for two to three years now and last time I heard wasn't performing as strongly as WIN would have liked.
How long will it continue to operate?
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Abber, I sent them a very harsh email after getting shocking service and received Free IQ for x amount of mths.

Spit the dummy, say that they're not serious about gaining customers if this is any idea of customer service. Ask them what they're going to do for you, because now you're not going to use Foxtel, they can get stuffed etc, etc.

Worked for me.

Thanks gadj1976

They've already said I could have a couple of months of sports free. The sad thing is I just can't get connected and can't get anyone to talk to me about it.
I just know they'll start billing me soon and I won't be connected.

I've emailed them but it takes 10 working days to get back to you because they're "improving their systems to give even better service"

The whole thing has been so fustrating and bordering on funny it's been such a debacle. The promises to call back are incredible.

Last Saturday I had this coversation with a girl from Foxtel

Girl: "I'll email the technical area and they will ring you in 30 minutes"
Me: " No they wont. Nobody's ever rung me back before"
Girl: "They'll ring and I will also monitor to call you in 1 hour if they don't"

Never heard from Technical or Girl again.

We did have - it was called Galaxy TV and I worked there at Tech park ten years ago! unfortunately at that time the ACCC put an end to merger discussions with Glaxy and Foxtel and unfortunately Foxtel won... (500 odd Adelaideians out of work)

This used to get me in trouble at work( girl was marrying into an ethnic family swore she was one of them etc ), but wouldn't the majority of
Australian's be ethnic I am pretty sure most Aussie families weren't eating Vegiemite when Cook or the Dutch before him arrived .

Select would be ok BUT it smells very much like Galaxy to me .

Perhaps when they do turn up to install it say no thanks and produce a copy of what you have posted on here, not a good ad for Foxtel and you may find you get a substantial discount or something similar, I had probs with Foxtel about 6 months ago and they were supposed to turn up on a particular day to fix, didn't show and I got the run around for 3 days, they ended up showing up and I ended up with 3 months free Foxtel which was a substantial saving seeing I have every channel (apart from the 2 porn ones of course)

Yes, it is, but my Nanna isn't into watching "Serie A" live on the telly  She's happy enough with Days of Our Lives and Inspector Rex
