CALLING ALL 35 YEAR OLDS (PLUS)

Postby Lunchcutter » Wed May 03, 2006 4:49 pm

Who attended city nightclubs (disco's i reckon we used to call 'em hehehee) mid to late 80's ... i am trying to come up with the name of the disco that was close to where those bombings went off yesterday... i have already ruled out The Oaks (to my knowledge this was in the Planet building before it became the planet), and it's not the Tivoli (that was much further down) ..... this joint was not to big, was in the basement and we would often go there before or after going to 'My Place' (see told ya, ya have to be old to help with this one!)..... it was somewhere to go after visiting Jules, Ambassadors (around the same era as Grenfell Tunnel, Club 69 etc) (maybe a couple of years before these were popular).... any suggestions would be greatfully accepted... the only thing ringing a bell for me is that it was four words....
the ***** ****** tavern ?? maybe but dont let this put you off from offering me other suggestions...thanks for your help. :prayer:

Lunchcutter - was it the place that was in the Wine Underground (IN that building) before it was the Wine Underground ?

Or Fasta Pasta ? I'm trying to think of what's there - downstairs (I work on Pirie Street)

Of course, I'm 28 - so I don't know what was there at the time. I was home watching MacGyver and It's a Knockout.

Tavern 63? (never went there)

Have vague recollections of the other places though, from hazy bus tours ... Still couldn't beat Lennie's though .. :D

Bus tours I went often included (besides the one's already mentioned)The Venue, the Colonel Light, the Ark, the Mansions and the place with the balcony on King William St (brain freeze on that one) but I don't remember the place you're talking about at all.

Most of my time was spent at the Morphy (Morphett Vale Tavern) or Lennies.

Ambassadors I'd imagine mate .... Had forgotten all about the Venue, great place at the time (and one ofthe easier establishments to get into whilst underage)

Yeah I went out to the one at Salisbury for one night where I stayed overnight with a chick that lived out there.
Was stoned out of my mind but luckily for me the chick knew the bouncer who let me in.

All I remember is watching the lights going around and around the dancefloor.

Went there one other time too, it seemed alright and was huge at its biggest.

Went to the Tonsley one a few times as that was about 10 mins from home but never liked it as they always played crap dance music, I always found my way back to Lennies or the Morphy.

Used to go to McMahon's Salisbury during/after year 12.

Or if we had nothing else to do.

Anyone old enough to remember when it was still Peter Sterling's?
