I've sung the opening lines of that at some games when we're winning, received strange looks from a few supporters. ;)

Hammers? "I'm forever blowing bubbles" ???

No wonder you get strange looks.

England didn't qualify in '94 so there was no song.

The song for Italia '90 was "World In Motion" with New Order (featuring the ever-delightful John Barnes rap).

YouTube: John Barnes Rap

(and didn't Bernie Sumner look like a twat in those raybans)

You’ve got to hold and give
But do it at the right time
You can be slow or fast
But you must get to the line
They’ll always hit you and hurt you
Defend and attack
Theres only one way to beat them
Get round the back
Catch me if you can
Cos’ I’m the England man
And what you’re looking at
Is the master plan
We ain’t no hooligans
This ain’t a football song
Three lions on my chest
I know we can’t go wrong

Anyone remember the 98 song - by a couple of comedians.

Three lions on my chest blah, blah, blah.
Had a lot to back up after that superlative New Order ditty.

Black Grape also had a song around the time dedicated to it as well.

At least when we copied the song, we changed it to "winning team" at the start - would have spewed if we used "happy team".

You mentioned you played at the club during these songs Smac, was that seniors or underage ???

That was great, I remember singing it when I was 9 or 10, used to love it...

I'm not a huge fan of our current one (same as Hawthorns) but it is better than that bloody "WHO LET THE DOGS OUT, WHOOF, WHOOF, WHOOF
crap they play when Centrals run out onto the ground when at home...

I didn't mind an earlier one we had, it was titled "THIS TIME, MORE THAN ANY OTHER TIME"

GO U DOGGIES...

Roy Laird actually wrote the 'This time more than any other time' song I do believe. I agree with you re our best one though 'Beware the Dogs are Coming'. I think this is the one that John Swan wrote for us.

Cheers

I should have read the rest of the posts before making mine as my points had been covered.

I still have a copy of Roy's song on CD and, yes, it was recorded at the club and with supporters involved. I used to have 'Beware the Dogs are coming' but not sure what happened to it. Btw, I saw Swanee in Clare a few weeks ago. He is singing better now than he did in his heyday. I always thought he was the more talented one in the family, better than his brother Jimmy Barnes.

I wouldnt have thought so BP , the way your supporters were carrying on at Unley you would have thought the sun was shining out of their a ..se. Typical arrogance I suppose . If I can clarify one point , if you sing soccer songs , sing the whole songs that would be good , add to the atmosphere , not just 1 or 2 words. Mate I am being sincere ,good on you and your club for all your success. Just make sure you follow them when things turn a bit.

Oct, I followed them for 30 years when things were not so great. I will follow them to my death bed no matter how little success they have. Hoping that you will be able to do the same for Sturt.
