I feel sorry for anyone that has to play against him. I think I can safely say that the great man will easily win the medal this year. Poor bugger has red hair though.

I can't see Jared East winning the medal. He won,t play good footy all year.

You're a brave man firing up the J-Rod roosters1. My first rule in footy, never make a red head angry!

Not saying he isnt a good player but you have to be pretty good to win a medal and you need to play well all season like a Josh hollit he done it year after year

Round 2

United vs Hummocks
Balaklava vs Two Wells
Virginia vs Hamley Bridge

Tips

United to down Hummocks after a first up win although the Eagles will be stung by the loss to arch rivals the Peckers. At home though will tip United over the line.

Balaklava will be riding high after knocking off the Eags last week and will face a huge test against the Roosters but my heart rules my head and I will tips my Peckers to win at home.

Virginia will be fired up for a first up win under Kutchie Phillips and should account for the Bombers who I think will have a long and unhappy season with a couple of their few top liners (Young & Lowe) heading elsewhere.

A good game on the weekend between the pies and the tigers. some good bumps handed out too. Can recall wil searl dropping the shoulder into early about 15 mins into the 1st quarter , didnt phase him though. Jumped straight back up ran express towards the pack and proceeded to lay a CHEAP SHOT into the scrum, very fit boy is young jason.Mallala seemed to use the ball a bit better than longies. They link up very well, just couldnt match the physical side of the game.Geeez they miss that little champ hollit, a fine player.Would of been good to see tallboy umpire the game as he knows the rules more than any one else . Top fella .Wasnt a very good display by the men in white. One tends to think where they dream up some of there decisions......... :(

looks to be a pretty tight round

United vs Hummocks - United in a close one, home ground advantage getting them over the line by 7 points. Q.Graham to kick 6 majors

Balaklava vs Two Wells - Peckers did well to knock off Hummocks but will be facing a fresh enthusiastic Rooster outfit who will over run them in the last term to win by 23 points. J.Struck to receive 6 free kicks for too high.

Virginia vs Hamley Bridge - Who knows how the new look Rams will perform but you would think they could knock off the Bombers either way. Virginia by 42 points. G.Phillips and R.O'Loughlin to get 6 photos in the Producer.

What does everyone think of the new mercy rule particularly for the Senior Colts. Personally I think its a load of crap. Heard that in the Balak Hummocks game the Balaklava coach refused to enforce it, so when they were 9 goals up there were 17 defenders and one forward making it virtually impossible for either side to kick a goal.

Why was it introduced? These kids are preparing to step up to senior footy and we are telling them that if they are too good they have to play with the opposition. Its not teaching the kids the basics of teamwork and it is throwing the structure of the better sides out of balance.

From what I can gather the only leagues with the same/similar mercy rule are all on the West Coast. You only need to look at those leagues and realise some of the troubles they are in to realise that this is not the answer.

I agree with some sort of mercy rule for Junior Colts as they are more or less just learning the skills of the game. But Senior Colts?
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

I reckon you're right there MC. I remember being on the recieveing end of some pretty big spankings in Senior Colts. It builds character to know what losing feels like and it makes winning that much sweeter when your turn comes around. A mercy rule in Junior Colts is a good idea thought.

As it stands if a side is more than 10 goals up at either 1/2 or 3/4 time then the game is called and the margin is altered to make the difference no more than 10 goals in the scorebook. The umpires & coaches of both teams then pick the best 3 or 4 players from the leading team and those players must play for the opposition to even the teams out. If these players refuse then I am of the understanding that the club gets fined.

It is the same in the Junior Colts except the margin is 8 goals.

i wasnt a particular fan of the mercy rule wen i was playing juniors at two wells becasue pretty much every game we played the other team got the ball from the centre, so we hardly ever had ruck contest. but the rule was never around wen i was in senior colts and it shouldnt be in senior colts at all

Shows what I know 1 from 3.

Peckers down to the Roosters at balak
Hummocks getting the choccies over Longies at Water Tower park

only the Rams over the Bombers

Never mind there's always next week.

Yep, Roosters over the Peckers, but what about the Eages over the Yellow and Blacks!!

Blind Freddy would have expected the Rams to get over a surprisingly competitve Bomber outfit who must not be disrespected, so good on them, but whould have thought that at the end of round two, the ladder!!!

Virginia
Two Wells 8)
Hummocks/Watchman :)
United
Balaklava
Mallala
Hamley Bridge :(
