Very interesting stories filtering from Onkas on this one...as many have mentioned, suspect some home truths were told that did not go down well, hence at least one player pulling out being "Disenchanted" last week. Barry will have a baptism of fire there, but the right temperament for the job, and very best of luck to him.

hillsrider - I wondered why you had been so quiet for a while also. Do we take it you are NOT a current or past coach?

Saw some of the Torrens valley v Birdwood Game on Staurday
Birdwood were quite competitive in what were obviously very windy conditions
A very scrappy game.
Torrens valley apparently had 11 out, including Carter, Potts, Bartel and O'Shea.
Coles was very good in the ruck for Lions, and Deke Smith was the best forward on the Oval by the proverbial mile.
Birdwood's onballers were quite good.
I suspect a team with a lot of run would test the Lions.

Well...thoughts on the games?
I got out to Bridgewater and to my surprise, was NEVER a close one. That's avtually the one that I thought would be close.
No upsets but judging by the scores, some decent games...?

Yep, Bridgey got smashed. Lofty were in a different league, even with blokes missing.
Uraidla will be the only (by the looks) that'll give them a test.

I thought Echunga may go OK.
Does that mean THEY'LL be the ones to come to Central??

echunga to the central div?? doubt it!! there's no team in the country div that could win 4 games in the central div, if that. even if tv went there, half their team wouldnt be there, and neither would their coach.
looks like blackwood will struggle in both divs this year following their deplorable finals campaign in both divs last year!

I was being sarcastic, just eluding to some earlier posts re Birdwood coming up.

Blackwood, man. What's going on there. Haven't seen them yet, but results suggest they're nowhere near the mark. But scoreline from their Uraidla game looked competitive.
Maybe the whole finals debacle in Central really shook them.

Someone was telling me saturday that Lofty had five of there guns missing. Was shocked to hear they won so easily on such a small ground and in such terrible weather.

I wasn't so much shocked, a bit surprised that the gap was that big. And the whole skills area was an even bigger gap. The run of Lofty was great.
Yeah I was told about a few out...Wait, White, Burch, Pahl...
Weather wasn't too bad, didn't rain, just damn cold! And dark!
It's a bit of a bonus to come away from Bridgey with a percentage game, that's for sure.

On arriving at Bridgewater on Saturday morning I was welcomed by some interesting writing on the wall that surrounds the oval. "F*ck goats, F*ck you Mt Lofty and a number of other interesting phrases were lining the walls. Real smart stuff by Bridgewater, defacing their own oval.

yeah I heard that bridgewater wrote something on their own walls and even got some of the spelling wrong, smart, very smart.

Interesting, Lofty winning easily, I would've thought bridgewater would have gotten closer.

I was away on the weekend and didn't get to read the paper or hear any of the scores of the games. Only from what has been said on the forum. What were all the scores??
How good is footy!
