Chris Ladhams

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby JessicaRabbit69 » Wed May 10, 2006 11:39 am

I don't think any of Ladhams' previous indiscretions (if there actually are any, I don't know) are relevant to this thread unless, of course, he's been done for drink-driving before (which I assume he hasn't).

This thread started by reporting what had happened to Chris and asked the question whether it's an issue the SANFL should be concerned about considering Matt Cooper has been in the news for the same reason recently.

It's since evolved into a debate about whether it should be reported in the media when a SANFL player breaks the law.

With respect, I think that's beside the point mate and not the essence of debate on this one

Thats crap CP ( with all due respect ) He is no better or less a person than the rest of us. I would say that a very big percentage of the people here would have been over the limit whilst behind the wheel without knowing- or knowing. And beleive me, a lot of cops I know have too, as they are only human like us too.

I just think putting that on a page 2 of the paper when they cant even get the goal kickers or percentages right during the first couple of weeks of the SANFL season is just a joke on our league and the paper itself.

Not pointing out your post all in one CP as I enjoy your input very much, but a highlight of many posts regarding this debate.

Apologies RM, perhaps I should have worded it a little better for you ... From MY point of view, the ethics of drink-driving is not the matter at hand here (perhaps an issue worthy of discussion in it's own right) nor is who has or hasn't made this mistake over the years, the point of the matter (as BOTH you and I have said previously) is why does it have to become public knowledge and why do the Press immediately jump on the negative aspect of the SANFL when the competition and it's fans are crying out for greater coverage toward the myriad of positives provided by the comp??

I'm glad you enjoy my input RM, perhaps you should go back through the thread and read my posts properly, because I have no idea where you're coming from with "He is no better or less a person than the rest of us" ... I don't recall passing judgement upon him and I would have thought if anything my posts defended his right to privacy, and that he's been punished enough via the apprpriate channels without having to be humiliated publicly

Chris Ladhams

Postby sturtpeter » Wed May 10, 2006 12:06 pm

I apologise.

Sometimes you post without reading the initial thread.

I thought the thread heading was, "Chris Ladhams."

SANFL and other Sporting people are meant to be role models for the Community. That's why they are crucified when they commit an alleged indiscretion.

I remember Greg Blewett being publicly humiliated by the Advertiser too when he was caught DUI on the way to a Grade Game.

Look at the way Shane Warne receives adverse publicity in the Press.

Unfortunately if you're in the Public Domain whether it be in the Media, on Television or a Sporting Identity and you allegedly break the law etc. you are always going to receive adverse publicity. Unfortunately it's what sells Newspapers

=; Me for one. Drink driving is bull5hit. If you drive, don't drink. If you drink, don't drive. I made my choice years ago.

I noticed last Friday that Chris is really filling out... he has been grazing (or guzzling) in a good paddock... or working hard on building up one of his tummy muscles.

Crap Jim - he is no bigger or smaller than when on the AFL training schedule.

For what it is worth - I think he is a great player.

But Drebin you can not be serious or did you just fly of the handle.

AFL training schedules are much different to the SANFL ( Which I know you would know ). But surely his conditioning would of changed.

He is the same weight and size - that is what jim suggested. Obviously the training program is different so I imagine the things that are likely to drop coming back to the SANFL are the weights programs or more so the number of sessions, aerobic capacity etc.

Well it depends on who you talk to at the club on any matter - you get 6 different versions! Having said that - I doubt too many players will openly admit they have stacked on the weight so you could well be right!

Chris Ladhams, bad bloke, when his old man was coaching Ironbank, i caught him abusing a young goal umpire, then booting a group of kids ball away. Disgraceful.

Did the ball go on the oval when the game was on?

Geez, I must be bad too, last year I was goal umpiring a juniors game, and after the 3rd time the same ball made it onto the oval, I booted it away, the most enjoyable part was it was a soccer ball from the kids watching soccer on the next oval :D

Chris wasn't even playing, this was during an under 12's game that he was watching. The ball wasn't on the oval and it bounced towards him. Maybe that isn't so bad, but using foul language and abusing a young kid (about 13 yrs old) just isn't on.
