A couple of interesting games this weekend:

Dudley United v Kingscote
Wisanger v Parndarna

After round 2 I think we'll have the final ladder sorted out. The up and coming Hounds against the ageing but premiership hardened Eagles will be a crackin match. Panthers v Roosters to sort out the wooden spoon.

The Eagles and Hounds grand final re match could be a shoot out!!!

Grape Ape you are correct the ealges are older, however they have lost half a dozen (fair % when your only playing 16 on the ground)of their grand final team from last year and have only replaced the with colts from last season. It is a very young team at the minute, hopefully a few players bob up throughout the season. Kingscote has a team which has been together for a few years now and by all report all bar 3 are under 23. The future looks rosie round at Dog Park. All that can be hoped is that if the wheels fall off there arent too many casualties as there have been in the past. Peter Philp has tried to change the culture round there so they arent all sick of the sight of each other by half way through the year!

I think youll be right bout the Necks and Blue throats fighting it out for the spoon tho!!! Could be a large upset in round 3 with the eagles missing a large number of players and the rest playing 2 games that day against the Blue bagers

I believe Dan Taylor will front up again at some stage. I didnt get to see the game on the weekend so not sure if he played that one. I expect once again he will throw himself into everything!!

Simon fronted on the weekend for Dudley Eagles. It was only the first game of the season over there and will take some time to get used to a bit of a drop in standard and a new club. He started well with a couple of marks and shots on goal and presented well in the last quater when the game was in the balance. He was servicable and was on one of the best and dirtiest CHB's in the comp. Good to see him out tho and will be a gun recruit as the year goes on.

Have you played with Simon, Dogwatcher? where does he normally play? What should we be expecting from him this year?

Good to hear he went well.
Dogga wouldn't have a problem with the drop in standard, as I think the KI league would definitely be higher than the Independents that he played in last year - you guys did pump us in three interleague games.
He's a very good forward - hard ball's not always his favourite though ;).
Dogga played HFF for us at Moorook (Phil Watter's club) last season, kicked six or so goals in our losing second semi in one of the best individual finals performances I've seen in Indy footy.
He's very elusive and takes some marks over bigger fellas you wouldn't necessarily expect.
Prefers to play with the ball coming towards him, rather than having to find it.
Also a very good hockey player.

Please don't tell me Adrian Hogg played A grade for you guys!

Sorry DW aint no hockey over here for him!!!

Hogg doesnt play for the Eagles. He mite be the guy simon left behind at Wisanger after having a couple of training runs around there. Dont think they were all that impressed!!! At least he will be playing in a reasonable side. Is the roumor true he has won a couple of Mail Medals? This has been circulation the other clubs, not from him

I think that may have been started to stir up other clubs!!!!

They were going to play together, until he got lets say a better offer! He will also be playing in a back to back winning premiership team and a great bunch of blokes who know how to have a good time. Smart move really! The team he was going to play for was apparently comprehensivley beaten in the weekend. Doesnt look like your boy Hoggy was much help for them! What pos. does he play?

Further news is that Wisanger will almost certainly finish wooden spooners this season!!! Wisanger have lost J. Lade to Parndana (gone to drink rum) and last year gun S. Johnson playing over on yorks this season. Big losses for the club and the supposed big come back of D. Berden now only going to play a "couple" of games looks like they will build on their trophy collection, but at the wrong end of the ladder.

Pardana look as though they may be the suprise packet of the season with a number of players returning from injury and a couple of recruits could once again be a force.

Tips this week:
Parndana by 10 goals
Dudley just in the Grand Final rematch

We played Whaley last week and he did ok, and took a great hanger on Brad Willson. He was unlucky last year i thought not to win the mail medal over here! He had a great year and was always good against us. Hes always been agreat ball getter and a great bloke to have a beer with too.

Both the chewy boys are still going round as well. Nath has been playing on and off for the past cople of years in between Pony club, trips overseas with the misses and injury. Always seems to come good round the last round and finals tho!!! Both damaging players and could be the differance between Darna challanging or not!!

WoW have you played with Spermy and Trethewey?

Sorry i ment to say Hunt club!!! I get them mixed up all the time. Arnt they the same?

Yea i believe the big unit has been struggling for a number of seasons since leaving willunga. Got a bit complacent with his weight and now each season goes by it slips further away from him!! I think this seaon the coach over there is trying to get him keen again, taking him out of the goal square and making him hurt (i ment run) around till he gets fit!!! May need to play a few more games the 12 to get there yet the big unit.

Jason hasnt coached since 05 when he took one of the most formidable outfits KI will ever see to the flag at Wisanger. He had a great well drilled group that season, including the Great Southern's own Matty Thomas (willunga) who should have won the medal that year. He was just a player the following season, didnt play at all last year and was then offered his job of a life time down near Geelong i think! Moved away just before christmas. Not sure what hes doing over there or if hes playing/coaching. Top bloke, and much respected by all who have met the man. Loosing him as coach was the beginning of the end for the Wisanger boys, many of whom left the year after when they found out he wasnt going round again.
