I too, am a derivative of a college education, yet I am perfectly capable of making my point without personal attack. I also get along here with everyone just famously. whether they are from the college sides or otherwise.

If I make a claim, I will back it up with facts, rather than making statements with the sole purpose of the others biting back.

As a fellow private schoolie I would expect that you can do the same and will expect you to do so in future.

Theres nothing wrong with sticking up for your club but there is a way of going about it.

It seems funny to me that you take offence to the stereo-type of 'soft' college teams, and then defend yourself by using stereo-type terms yourself !

you say we are soft because we dont like to fight or play dirty. you think being hard is getting a boxer to play and belt opponents. i wouldnt be suprised if that was his first game of footy ever.

quite the opposite if you talking about soft.... its not fighting or playing dirty, its being too scared to go and get the ball yourself and sitting out of packs waiting for cheap kicks.

I'm assuming that Portland have lodged an investigation if it was such an issue, I'd be asking questions if they haven't and wonder why you're all carrying on so much if the club isn't prepared to take any action.

If they have, I can highly suggest to the Portland boys to zip their lips until the investigation is over and stop taking the bait.

I don't know the precedence of fining clubs or suspending players who run on to the ground to enter into fights etc..

like i said chicky i dont believe the way these guys are explaining it is totally truthfull. i believe if a investigation was brought forward poorland would be on the recieving end of some penalties themselves. what would you do as a father if a boxer was beating up your son nuff said? seriously i believe anyone in this situation would react the same.

You didn't know he was a boxer at the time, and just because he boxes in his spare time doesn't mean he is a thug. The point is, if you start allowing spectators, runners, coaches and water boys to run on the field when a scuffle/fight breaks out between the players it is going to get very ugly. 9 times out of 10 when a scuffle/fight breaks out the players defuse it pretty quickly and if its that bad then the appropriate actions should be adhered to i.e report and then investigation and hearing at the tribunal. IMHO I think having your father run on the ground to defend you in a senior game of Football is a bit weak.

Sandman, i can tell you that me and Yeva coached against each other last year, and his guys thumped us on both occasions. The games were played hard, and reasonably fair - there were minor incidents during games between players, and things happen in the heat of the moment. But i can tell you that when the siren goes, hands were shaken and there is a mutual respect, because i know that Yeva instils the same values into his guys that i try and instil into mine - play hard, give the opposition nothing, be disciplined, but when the siren goes, be humble no matter what the score. That doesnt mean that we didnt want to win against each other, in fact its the opposite - those games mean more. Boys will be boys, and the things i try and teach dont always happen, but i do my best.

Funnily enough its a Pt Adelaide side thats the softest in the afl isnt it?
I played 9 years for a college side but yet had a public schooling?
also 3 years for Rosewater
so which Catergory would i come under?

sand man knows SFA about the paoc footy club. we also had a bloke in our side who has done quite a bit of boxing. didnt see the incident as i was in the sheds getting strapped together, but agreed, spectators, from any club, shouldnt go anywhere near the field while play is happening. about half of our a grade are actually boarders, who grew up in the country playing against people up to 6 or 7 years older than them in some cases. i would argue that all people who grew up playing against kids their own age are soft

When our c-grade took on Pooraka a few weeks ago, we had a young kid (playing his 2nd game of footy EVER) being sent from the ground because of the blood rule, because he was involved in a scuffle, so as he is running of the field, the guy from pooraka that was also involved, run up behind him and 'king hit' him from behind. Meanwhile, his father is standing on the sidelines, who's profession is a copper, took no action into the fight. He was worried about his son, dont get me wrong, but he knew there was nothing he could do.

Lets move on shall we...Surely there is other things going on in Div 4 that can be said...

Fair enough conclusion

PAOC B grade are definately not soft, they towelled us up and beat us in every department. Good reality check for my guys, who may have been getting a little ahead of themsleves.

I wasnt joking about Byrne being in the paper either, im sure his team-mates will be getting into him tomorrow night !

Bit of sense.
alot of ppl have played against people older then them
and i think it helps to develop them into better footballer!!
