Broadband

Postby Pseudo » Mon May 15, 2006 2:14 pm

Due to me being located in a different state from my employer, I am about to bite the bullet and get broadband at home. The question is, which provider to choose? Can anyone tell me which broadband provider they have, and why?

Forget it, go cable. Its not that expensive. Take the 12 gig download package.

I used to be with TPG but they were going to put their prices up!
I used to pay $49.95 for 20gb download limit with 1.5mb speed but it was going up to $59.95

So I moved to Internode, for $59.95 I get ADSL 2 which has mega quick speeds with 20gb download, plus with Internode you get $10 of dialup thrown in a month incase you're on the road or your ADSL falls over (which mine hasn't yet) and you can get wireless internet if in a hotspot in town or the airport, etc.

Generally Adam and Internode are regarded as the best, Adam has better support as the popularity of Internode has outgrown their helpdesk but I've had no reason to ring Internode yet as you get a fully configured modem when you join up with them (at a cost, you can use your own).

Go to the Internode website, check if you're in an ADSL2 area and if you are go for it.

When we first got doal up we were with Adam and they were really bad. Poor product and exceptionally bad and rude service.

Internode for mine, Psuedo.

All all facets of Broadband - you can't go wrong with them.
Recently, waiting times on the phone have been higher than usual, although with the influx of customers they've had from other ISPs who have hiked their prices, it's no wonder.

The free content is great too (including download mirrors, and radio stations) that don't go towards your monthly quota.

Adam internet. Used to have dial up with Bigpond, not bad dial up, but there customer service was shithouse. And thats probably being a bit nice.

I have found that Adam is pretty good, only had one time when it went down. So once in about 6 months isnt too bad. Customer service is quite good as well. Very helpful especially when your network card thinks its a good time to die...... :?

Will be going with Internode. It was a choice between them or Adam - and Adam sponsors Port Power ;)
