The volunteers and the rescuers arent getting anything at all from either tragedy so stop whinging about people getting money. They went through 2 weeks of trauma, they deserve anything they get.
As I said before, its not that the Gladstone people dont deserve anything, but we dont need to give them pity. Its not gonna help bring anyone back.
So stop whinging on the internet and put your time into something more useful.
I did reply to this post this morning, but my reply seems to have myseriously disapeared some time after 9am, and before 9pm tonight, must be ghosts, as I have recieved no PM with an explanation.
1. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you seem to have read something in to my post that was diffent to my intentions.
2. I wasn't having a go at the blokes from beaconsfield, good luck to the survivors they deserve every thing they get.
3. My (and others if you read the whole thread) main point was that CH9 and the footy show seem to have jumped on board a cause that has had the whole of Australia's attention for 2 weeks, I just hope their motives were sincere, and not ratings related.
4. I wasn't the only person to question whether other victims should not recieve simillar "charity", to me with the football links at the Gladstone disaster, it had more relevance to a football show than perhaps Beaconsfield, but in saying that, they are also no less, or no more deserving than each other, or that of many other disaster victims and their familys.
5. Brett White announced at the North presentations tonight that the club is collecting (along with a donation of their own) for the victims of the Gladstone disaster. The players wore black arm bands today, and Brett also explained that as he was from that area he new a number of the victims, and has lost a couple of good mates, as well as the other players at North who had played footy with 2 of the victims.
Details of where donations can be made will be on the North web site next week.
