BOLD PREDICTION.

Talk on the national game

BOLD PREDICTION.

Postby Booney » Thu May 18, 2006 9:17 am

With Port Adelaide curently sitting with a 2-5 win loss ratio and Brisbane,Essendon and Carlton over the next three weeks,Im going to stick my head on the chopping block and say this.Deep breath.....

When the siren sounds at the Telstra Dome to end the round 10 clash of Port and Carlton,Port Adelaide will be back in the finals race with a 5-5 win loss.A blight on the rest of the competition this will be as we do not deserve to be any where near that.Only a prediction, and I know this could well get dug up by the time Brisbane beat us this week (?),or it might be the greatest call since Pontings decision to bowl first at Lords.

Time will tell, let the mud slinging begin........

*Boon stands back awaiting the barbs*

Booney that is not as silly as it sounds, However that outcome will be totallty dependant on the 22 players who run out for the Power over the next three weeks.

Totally up to them if they have any pride in their own performance and the club they play for. I mean for majority of the Power side 30 "proper" games ago they were winning a flag. You do not lose your ability in that period of time, you willingness to do the hard yards and pride in your performance can be lost though....

The flip side of this if the 'Smears are 2 - 8 after the next three weeks (which is possible but I think 5-5 is more likely than 2 - 8 ), I think some players should have their cards marked "never to play again" because if Port can't win at least one of the next three games the problems down at Scumberton will be bordring on terminal!!

Time to wipe the slate clean, earmark those players that are going to be there in 4-5 years time and build around them. Those that won't be no matter how good they are now or how strong their emotional attachment is to the club - get rid of them
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

FWIW if the Power are 2-8 it will be p!ss funny to read the Power board on Big Footy, gee if the comments on that after last week are anything to go by another three losses in a row and fair dinkum I reckon they will tear Alberton to pieces. Talk about some of mother natures kingdom eating their own, some of the comments on that board have been pure feral!!

Mind you given the population Port supporters are drawn from that is not to be unexpected (gee I love double negatives)

Foe those of you who haven't seen it and what a laugh go and read the Power forum board on BigFooty.com I'm pissing myself thinking about it....

It's not the next three weeks I'm worried about.

It's the twelve weeks after that.

On current form, an 8-14 season is on the cards.

Maybe even 6-16.

Geez, some of them sh!t me to tears on there.

They bleat on about being the most ardent, loyal supporters in the land.

But then scream for the Chocko's head after three bad games.

Three bad games!

Was thinking about the current state of Port last night, and I guess sometimes it's easy to lose track of the time factor ... It was less than 2 years ago the Cows were copping a 140-point belting at the Gabba and look at where they are now ... It has taken a good 5 years (or thereabouts) for players like Skipworth, Bock, Hentschel, Shirley, Doughty etc to mature in both their footballing abilities, comfort at being on the main stage and physically ... Look at the top teams going back to at least 99' and one common denominator amongst them all is mature bodies ... I'm sure Port has the kids, they just need to be given the time to develop ...

Most certainly wouldn't be surprised if Port get to 5-5, but as Stud said, depends on which team runs out for them on each of the next 3 matchdays ...

Port were in a similar position last year with experts (KG) writing tem off, yet they made the finals. Therefore 5-5 is not out of the question. With regard to the Power board on BigFooty it is a load of laughs at the moment. The Collingwood board has an interesting thread " The Victorian Alliance" if a vic club ever wins the flag again it will be too soon

Even if your prediction does come true, with the Powder having a lot of away games stacked in the second half of the season it will be the closest they will get to the top 8
