Trouble is it looks like they found one thats happy to agree with them. I think it's astounding that a judge would even consider the case. Don't know how anyone can say that a 12yo can understand their own sexuality and gender. Agree the mother needs help too if that second article is correct.

The first article suggests that she's scared and worried about puberty and what that entails for a girl...well ffs what girl isn't to some degree...I certainly was. OK she's apparently a little more extreme and I think the poor girl needs help but not the kind she's getting. I feel sorry for her dad...skint and helpless and I think the only people that will benefit are the so called experts when they get their fees.

Most of my medical colleagues in private practice duck for cover when this type of case comes up. You only get misinformation from all sides, just as in custody disputes - I refused to touch those. It is usually those who work for a salary in Psych. departments at the hospital where any surgery may take place who can't actually duck it, as, if the request for consultation comes in, someone in the department has to do it and as the departments are small their is no way out. As a rule Psychologists in private practice are less in the position of having plenty of other less problematical work on hand than medicos , and are more likely to buy in for the fees.
