Only the very young think age explains anything. [Lots of young people voted for John Howard, for example.]
My values were as different from the average in the late 1970s as they are now. I remember being called a "fascist" for positive comments about Mal Fraser, who was left wing of Bob Hawke, looking at it in retrospect. And I copped flack for buying property in my 20s while my peers "partied" in the style of the time.

Does Psyber remind anyone else of Grandpa Simpson?

I've thrown the odd party too, but like you, and unlike some others, it wasn't all I did!

Tupperware parties don't count Psyber. :)

Never been to one of those - what are they like?

Now I have some respect for Montgomery Burns. I could take that role on as a semi-retirement hobby in another 30 years.
Perhaps I could hold SA to ransom for water...... hmmm... note to start working on that tomorrow!
I am reasonably pro nuclear power too, though I favour Thorium reactors.
Thorium reactors, desalination plant, control of water supplies - I see a PPP with the SA government coming up.

I was playing too in that case, Booney. Did you take me seriously? Monty runs a nuclear power plant remember!? And he tried to hold the town to ransom for sunlight. That was the connection, but water seemed appropriate for Adelaide. I don't really care one way or the other about the issue I set up there - it was just a fun idea to fit the role cast for me for the moment, and to make that connection which also poked fun at my actual cautiously pro-nuclear position.

Do you really think I mean everything I put up to be taken literally, or seriously, or that I am being entirely serious all the time myself? Have you heard of stirring? [SEE THE FLAGS.    ]

I am serious though when I see people espousing risky drinking, and as someone with medical training I do think it would be irresponsible of me to not raise the issue of caution if it appears they may not be joking in doing so.

I know some people will then attack me for posting anything that confronts them with the risks they are taking. That's what happens when people are bothered by things they don't want to think about - they want to make it go away.

Don't be so serious - lighten up and have fun.
