I believe the meeting has been postponed until next tuesday due to Craig Lawn being unavailable.

What does everyone think about having a coach at this level of cricket? Do you think that they can benefit a club or they can just drain your finances? if anyone has one how much do they get paid?

I think the role of a coach in this league is minimal. Most clubs train once a week and play on saturdays, so the coach really does work on thursday nights training and on saturday may see only one team play. If a club has the right structure in place eg: the right captains they can take trainings thus giving more involvement. Also practice captains can be effective to oversee the running of training. My question to all Would a chairman of selectors to oversee selection be of greater value. We have no coach so we will see if this proves a good theory.

we have had a coach for the past 4 years, and the benefit of having one is that we have more on the track every week at training. We regulary have 40 people at practice.

Our club has had mixed success over the years when it comes to coaching appointments..We have, for the best part of 30 years over 2 comps been one of the front runners in the A Grade division, yet, have never really had a 'coach' as such. Some one who really dedicates themselves to the development of individuals, yet,we have had much success as a team.Strange, hey?

I'd suggest that in the last 10 years or so that I've seen WYC, your club has attracted some very good players who were good players when they came to the club. I reckon the most important aspect of a coach is to teach the young guys technique and concentration, which can be bypassed by securing the services of good experienced players.

Out of the 11 guys that played in our GF side last year 5 have come through the junior ranks which have only been going since 94. Only Kingy, Macca and Todd Roberts are players that have joined us from other clubs. Pressy, Al and Shannon all come from junior clubs that didn't field seniors and have been around for years. However, i do think that having been a successful club it has helped attract players to the club. Having these experienced and quality players certainly helps teach the younger guys some of the finer points of cricket.

Could not agree more . A development coach . Thats the best way to go if and i say if u have the right guys in place as captains and so forth . But if u dont then u need a COACH who has to run training set up fielding drills set up training pack up after training . If u spread the load between 3 or 4 of u then it can be very easy
Back to the creek it is.

Morphy Pks to sections 2 and 3 from 1 and 2. Sheidow Pk from 3 to 2 and 2 to 1. Southern to 3 from 2. WYC from 3 to 2. Belair from 4 to 2. Also heard that there is a slight possibility of going back to 6 sections due to some clubs possibly folding a team(s). Not sure of the other grades but all this is to be confirmed at the July meeting.

Pretty much as expected wyc, morphies down shiedow up but the belair on is a bit of a shock. Jumping 2 sections is a big step. Having played in sections 2,3,and four in the past three years from my experience thier is a big difference in sec 2 compared to sec 4. Would have thought a slower progression through the grades would be a better path. Good luck to them but think they might strugle.
