At least I was proved right about McConnell. 2 goals from free kicks, one on the goal line after the rest of the team did the job for him. One very nice goal with a snap over the shoulder but who know if there was someone in a better position to take the shot because he was never going to pass off. But when the game was one the line in the second half he did nothing. Just reassures me he will be useless come finals when there will be few easy kicks. Just begging for a defender to run off and win himself a Jack Oatey.

so what happened when they 'manned up' on macconnell ? grima 'got more room' & it was his turn to kick a couple of goals

& if we are fortunate to be in a gf perhaps macca may only get 7 kicks but that'd be 4 or 5 goals  & also as mentioned he was deep in defence during the last quarter & repelling many attacks on goal by central
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Bays bust the game open in the first quarter after Doggies kicked the first goal....reckon we actually play better on the bigger ovals with our gun midfield...

Fair few comments about the umps, I reckon they over umpired the game, Bays did get a good run but maybe caused they played in front...

Back in the club afterwards was great to catch up with WHUFC and bulldogs2004...a great day :D

Good to meet you Dutchy, and to think we do this EVERY home game! Once again, the cake was of the highest standard! The prawns at the bar after the game were delicious as well! What a day!

Bayman,

The bays were the better team all day my friend.

I make them favourites for the 2008 flag.

Mickan at the moment is the leading coach.

Bays are the leading team, in my oppinion.

And the Snouts in the Centrals Stand have made the Most Noise to date..!

What a sensational win by the Bays. Contributors right across the board and a gallant full-team performance. Allen, Backwell, Grima, Panozzo and co. were brilliant.

Again the Dogs put a minor scare in our camp with another last quarter comeback, but it's hard to guage whether it was the Bays dropping off by 10% or whether the Dogs simply had all the momentum in the final term. Umpiring was a bit over zealous all day, but any argument to suggest it had an impact on the Bays winning is a bit naive and silly. I thought the Dogs run in the final term was perhaps aided by some "square-ups" from the men in white, but the team with players first to the footy and willing to put themselves in, deserves to be awarded the frees, if they're there to be paid.

Write off McConnell at your peril Grahaml...he is the type of player that pops in and out of games, but the times he has the ball in his hands, something positive always happens for us. He is brilliant with his body work and his finishing is excellent too. I think if we checked the goalkickers tally, you'd find him perhaps being the most efficient scorer with the least number of points kicked for the number of goals he has kicked. He is smart with the umpires and his positioning and smarts around the forward 50 are very good. For the pace he lacks, his skills make up for this 10 times over. Defensively when the ball comes to ground, and the defenders run off him, he struggles. I'll be the first to admit that.

Ease up on the talk of Bays being grand finalists and premiers. Long way to go yet, and you'd have to argue that it is still a 3-horse race with us, Dogs and the Double Blues. I have some concerns with how our backline (depending on whether Forrest and Mules get up for us) will match up against Perrie, Chambers, Coad, among others. Rudolph can't do it all, and Panozzo and others are running defenders, not shut-down talls.

Makes for an interesting contest next week...boo me for opting to fly to Melbourne to get amongst Richmond's 100th year celebrations all next weekend (against Carlton). Thankfully I can set the DVD Recorder and watch the game upon my return...

I think we saw one of this years GF sides yesterday and unfortunately I dont think it was us!As previously noted we looked old and slow, have stopped running to the right places and for a change we are the side coughing up th ball repeatedly under pressure,, especially across half back.Bays just to good on the day and although the maggots were less than ordinary they had little impact on the result.
BTW is yesterday was indicitive of Ty Allens' season thus far, then hang the MM around his neck now as he was outstanding and showed us what opposition supporters have been seeing from our midfield for the last 8 years.
Congratulations Bays and well played.

So the game wasnt on the line in the first 1/4? Your embarassing yourself now Graham...

Yes Centurion my liver couldnt handle doing that at every home game, once a year would be bad enough!

The "cake" certainly seems to be building up a tradition out there!

and how did Jar Man out get that media pass

Great fun

Well done Bays great win you are the pace setters this year.

Very dissappointing crowd where were all the Tiger supporters ??? you guys have one of the slickest Bay sides in 20 years but alas hardly any supporters came out to the ponderosa to watch this superb performance. ???

We got smashed in the first qtr game all over for us Bays just to slick.

Doggies chasing jumpers all day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing that spoilt the day for me was was the woeful umpiring display especially by meathead Rowston, i though that when a player drags the footy under himself and then makes no effort to dispose of it its holding the ball ???? not saturday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They tried to even up in the frees in the last qt by handing out a few to the doggies ( 6 ) but all too late MR ROWSTON 32 /16 absolutely disgracefull.

Well done TIGERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the one thing that was hugely disappointing in yesterdays match was the disgraceful exhibition of umpiring and I shouldnt be complaining because we got a ride, but I hope we get those decisions in september.

Most of those free kicks wouldnt be paid in u9's footy.

But the umpiring takes the gloss over what was a brilliant team effort, centrals looked dis-interested.

Loved the wrestle on the members wing with Panozz and gowans, great to see and there wasnt an umpire in sight!!!!!

I have wondered that myself.

Now to the game:

I watched the game with my wife in hospital. She's pregnant and preparing to bring another Bulldog pup into the world and her blood pressure has been high - so they needed to observe her.
By quarter time it was my blood pressure they were checking!
There was a complete lack of accountability from our boys - it's the feeling I've been having when I've listened to their games on the radio and in the game I saw on Anzac Day. Yesterday confirmed it for me.
Our boys looked tired with old legs and were never in the hunt.
I'm not going to single out players, as they will all be hurting enough after that game.
I've never seen an opposition team against us with so many lose players streaming down from defence into attack.
The number of turnovers we conceded coming out of our own defence was implausible, I just couldn't believe some of the kicking. Even our run on handball saw us giving up possession because blokes weren't in the spots they have been for the past eight years.
As for the umpires there were some dodgy decisions against us but when you're second to the ball contstantly you make your own luck or lack thereof.
However, I will single out Tony Day/Dey (spell?) for some praise. What an idiot - giving a 25 metre penalty against Paul Thomas because you backed into him???? A bit of commonsense mate, if the contact was deliberate enough to warrant a penalty like that you should have reported him....thank goodness he didn't as Thommo's already got a charge to worry about. Pity the ump didn't see the one he copped first in that little scuffle with Hinge.

Well done Bays, on a great win. And good work on so many supporters getting to the game, I've never seen that many at the Ponderosa before. Dare I say Bandwagon? Who cares if it is, you're going to enjoy the ride.

Don't write us off just yet, but we've got a lot of work to do...

I'll sign off now before this write up takes on Big Phil proportions.

Too Late.......

Stampy... let me tell you mate, i went around to the outer side to see some mates in the 3rd quarter, and the noise coming from the snouts was incredible. There was a bit of noise for Centrals too, but they should have because there was 3 or 4 times more of their supporters there.

To Bulldog2004, do you play there too? my mate from work plays for the grove as well, and he is also out injured. I hope WHUFC recovers soon....all the best mate.
