so just because there are a lot of free kicks in the first half of a game do you think that teh umps should stop awarding them in the 2nd half just because teh number might be to big- in a game where there were lots of contests it inevitable there will also be lots of infringements, as i said a fair number of these frees were for 25m penalties and out on the fulls

Yes or No was all I was after.

I think they awarded too many free kicks for the whole game, nothing to do with evening anything up. The game was over umpired.

ok yes i didnt think there were too many frees paid that werent there, with the exception of the thomas penalty.

Well you will wear your "I love Michael Brander" t-shirt in public.

Not so sure about teams that are first to the ball getting frees in modern day football.
Geelong got 8 free kicks for the entire game Saturday Night!

That was the only 8 times the Eagles got near their opponents all night so that would explain that!

The umpiring at this game on Saturday was disgraceful - if not only for the performance of Umpire Dey who could not stand up. But when HE ran into to Thomas, who was looking the other way, and Umpire Dey fell over yet again and then awarded another 25m penalty against CDFC (which incidentally he did before he even looked at which club the player was from - what would he have done if it was a Glenelg player?) it all became an absolute farce. But after what happened in last year's SANFL Grand Final CDFC, Kris Grant and anyone called Gowans deserve everything they get.

Shane Harris - the umpiring in SANFL throughout all grades is sub-standard and despite what you have been saying for several years - it is far worse than the AFL. Fix it or get out.

2 points. Firstly, that makes very little sense - assuming you are referring to the Gowans incident for which he was suspended - how do you link that to Kris Grant and the CDFC deserving injustices?

Lastly, if you wish to chuck rocks at a club be bold enough to list yours in your profile.

Smac, I think he was referring to where Gowans said that Rowston was a joke in the after match pressos.

No, I am referring to the Gowans cowardly king hit that he was inadequaltey suspended for in the GF last year and the footy gods get you eventually one way or the other.

And ok my Club is North Adelaide but that has nothing to do with it. People from all clubs - including many from CDFC - were incensed with that behaviour on GF day.

I saw further thuggery on the opposition (not toughness or braveness) and verbal abuse of umpires from CDFC players (and appartently verbal abuse of umpires from their CE too) on Saturday so my point is that they (the CDFC) will continue to get the flow of free kicks against them (including absolutely ridiculous ones) if they don't change their ways.
