Removal of Children??

Postby Psyber » Tue Jun 24, 2008 5:51 pm

This is really disturbing. http://au.news.yahoo.com/080623/2/17eqi.html
Are the authorities going to have to fund looking even more closely at all parental behaviour and extend the surveillance of the care of all children.

Is this not a very tragic but somewhat inevitable consequence of paying people to breed???

Especially in a country that is at the limit of its water supply, and getting less rain than ever! :?

how much welfare would she have been on per fortnight? To not be able to adequately support and feed those kids, in this day and age of welfare in Australia IS criminal IMO.

Folks, the real tragedy is not this story on its own.

The Youth Court is full of similar stories week after week. Yes, similar and often worse stories. The reason we dont hear more about these sort of tragedies is two-fold.

1. Almost blanket suppression orders are applied to any details that may identify the parties.
2. The media does not sit in the youth court all day when it finds easier stories in other courtrooms.

Without disclosing a littany of stories of abuse, I can assure everyone that this story is the tip of the iceberg that broke through the surface of the ocean. And whilst I've got a fairly strong stomach, I have found myself not wanting to know more about many of the stories because they can literally make you feel nauseous.

Who was it that once said that the measure of a society is reflected by the way it treats its children?
Steve Bradbury and Michael Milton. Aussie Legends.

When I was about 13 I suggested and IQ test, based on the idea that if you scored high enough you didn't get sterilised.
Now I concede that technique is insufficient. I have known a few of guys who are members of Mensa and have no capacity to exercise common sense, or social skills, at all.
Looking back, an Autistic Spectrum Disorder could explain the lack of social skills, but I suspect it is not the whole answer either.
