The WBNA season has started, although there is far less Australian interest this season with players sitting out to focus on the Olympics later in the year.

Candice Parker, the LA Sparks rookie, is making huge headlines in the WNBA and USA...she is DUNKING (well she has twice).

This takes the total of dunks in WNBA games to.....3 (he team mate Lisa Leslie did the other at the same end of Staples Centre 6 years ago)

New season, but somethings do not change

- Lauren Jackson is the best player in the WNBA again, ahving won her Conference's Player of the Week Award twice in the first three weeks, so taking her past Lisa Leslie to the all-tim lead for this award. Her team, Seattle Storm has also started well, a league best, winning eight of their first nine games.

Where's Laura Summerton these days? Always thought she had what it took to make a WNBA career, didn't really get a great shot.

Seattle Storm forward-center Lauren Jackson was named the 2010 WNBA Most Valuable Player presented by Kia Motors, the league announced today. Jackson, who received 323 points (22 first place votes) from a national panel of 39 sportswriters and broadcasters, previously earned MVP honors in 2003 and 2007. Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings ranked second with 262 points (10 first place votes) and New York Liberty guard Cappie Pondexter finished third with 207 points (five). Phoenix Mercury guard-forward Diana Taurasi, the 2009 WNBA Most Valuable Player presented by Kia Motors, finished fourth with 73 points.

Fellow Aussie Penny Taylor was 10th in MVP voting

The Seattle Storm continued their great Post season form with their second successive series sweep. After defeating LA Sparks 2-0 in the First Round the Storm knocked off the Phoenix Mercury in 2 games to make their way through to the WNBA Finals. They will meet either the New York Liberty or Atlanta Dream (Atlanta lead Eastern Finals 1-0)

Lauren Jackson and the Seattle Storm are just one win fromthe WNBA title after winning Game 2, 87-84 with Jackson scoring a game high 26 points to go with 7 rebounds and 3 steals

Lauren Jackson was named Finals MVP as the Seattle Storm swept Atlanta Dream 3-0 to claim the title. Jackson scored 15 points and had 9 rebounds in Game 3
