ICC - Total JOKE

Postby jackpot jim » Sat Jul 05, 2008 6:38 pm

Michael Holding has quit his position on the ICC in protest over their decision to change the Result of the Test match played between England and Pakistan played at The Oval in 2006 from a Pakistan FORFEIT to a DRAW.

The ICC gave no explanation to their decision, only to say that "In view of the unique set of circumstances, the original result was felt to be inappropriate"

WHAT A **** JOKE the ICC are.

Their decision smacks of RACISM to me. I am sure Darrel Hair was on the money when he was going to sue them for racism.

The FORFEIT result in that game came about entirely within the rules and laws of the game of cricket and now 2 years later they change the result Bcos they thought it was inappropriate.
This is just PATHETIC and i hope Holdings decision to quit in protest is backed up by other cricket boards expressing their concerns about the ICCs Pathetic decision making abilities.

Does this decision open the way now for ANY result in the past to be changed now bcos the current ICC board members may feel that a past result may have been INAPPROPRIATE in light of poor umpiring decisions or wotever?

I hope that every respected statistican such as Bill Frindall, Ross Dundas etc. disregard this change and keep the result for what it is.

With this event, I think with the ICC, anything is possible. Maybe next, they could muster together a team of Indians and Pakistanis to act as ex-pats and get Zimbabwe back to Test match cricket.

What next ? Are the ICC going to review each dismissal and reverse the result if they find a batsman was incorrectly given out ?

Wasn't cricket wonderful when it was just Australia v England for the Ashes?

Once again the ICC buckle under the pressure from the Asian block of countries.

Recently Zimbabwe agreed to a proposal supported by this group to not play at the next 20/20 WC and still be a full member country of the ICC.

grow some balls ICC and put these twits back in their place

Maybe that's how it will end up, with New Zealand being the other team we will play.

agree entirely the result was made in accordance with the rules therefore it should stand- the umpires should take action about this and refus eto stand in any matches involving pakistan.

the ump say they dont want their integrity challenged by the introduction of video replays, yet here they have made teh correct decision and a 'higher' authority has reversed it for no valid reason- at least the video decisions would help get correct decisions more often
