About 1986 I would have thought, certainly nowhere near 1990. It was just before INXS went ballistic and the Models imploded...again.

Correct. 1987. INXS & Barnesy did Good Times and that was released as a single in December 1986, and they toured from Dec 86 to late Jan 87,
Australia Made, to fight against the invasion of foreign artists...

There was a follow up Australia Made, once again at Thebby which was held 1990. INXS didn't play Adelaide, but the other artists listed by previous posters did i.e Skyhooks, Angels, Noiseworks, Barnesy again, Diesel IIRC.

Went to both and the 87 one was better !!

In 1988, there was an Australian Made on Australia Day at Thebarton Oval (i'm sure of it), as I won tickets 2 from the Advertiser...
or if this is not the gig, what gig was at Thebarton Oval 1988?

Tough to remember past a couple of years, all the booze that goes down at gigs combined with a few kicks to the head in the mosh pits can make the memory a bit hazy.

1. Bad Religion @ Thebarton Theatre, 2007 - teen idols didn't disappoint after many years of anticipation
2. NOFX @ Thebarton Theatre, 2006 - mostly because they played 'The Decline', but was also as fun a gig I've been too
3. Foo Fighters @ Adelaide BDO, 2003 - still rate this as one of the best festival sets I've been in the mosh for, Dave Grohl at his playful best in a pink wig
4. Michael Franti and Spearhead @ Falls Festival, 2006 - magical set, but may have had something to do with all the spliffs being passed around
5. Bad Company @ Traffic, 2004 - Easily the best d'n'b gig I've been too, blew the tits off a packed house

Could've filled the top five with either The Herd or Frenzal Rhomb. Couldn't pick a favourite gig out of all of them, have gone off everytime I've seen them play.

Must have been two (or more) separate gigs as the one in 1990 was in October from memory.
Ive found reference to an Australian Made concert at Thebarton Oval on Januaray 1st 1987 which had INXS but nothing for Australia Day or 1988.

This music documentary covers the January 1987 Australian Made tour. Acts like Mental As Anything, INXS, and Jimmy Barnes reflect the worldwide popularity of Australian rock music that emerged during the 1980s.

It was definitely end of 1986/Jan 1987 Was it on Australia Day though?. INXS wouldnt have toured with anyone in 1988 as they were on their "kick" tour.

It was Jan 1, read my post!

Also it looks like this one moved from state to state, the one in October 1990 had about 5 concerts all going on at the same time and was broadcast on TV by memory.

They made it into a feature movie which was in the cinemas for a little bit. I've got it on VHS somewhere. Highlights are Wide Open Road by the Triffids and an awesome Ghost Ships by The Saints. Definitely at Thebarton Oval.

The one in 1990 was not 'Australian Made' IIRC. I think it was Ausmusic or something.

I could think of another 'PEARL JAM' picture (from where the band got their name)

that is not true no one actually no's what PEARL JAM means. I have a book called 5 against 1. its the story about pearl jam and the early years. I use to think the same as you but the book has shed some light on the name pearl jam. At least it is better then the former name MOOKIE BLAYLOCK.

The book is a good read also goes into detail about eddies relationship with Kurt cobain before and after his death.

The LOUDMOUTH festival at Memorial Drive (2004 I think)
Three of my all-time favourite bands tore it up on the tennis court...
DROPKICK MURPHYS 'Sing loud, Sing Proud'
HELLACOPTERS 'By the Grace of God'
TURBONEGRO 'Scandinavian Leather'
Shame that DKM were on stage so early in the day though.
I've seen both the Murphys & Hellacopters live many times
but Turbonegro only once & mate, they kicked the proverbial eh!
