I'm tempted to but a few bob on Bays ruckman Trevor Cranston...

While the Tigers have had a pretty even team performance throughout their successful season to date, I reckon Big Trev might just get a few 1 and 2 votes while Backwell, Fisher, McConnell, Holmes and the like get the 3 voters. Throw in a couple of BOG 3 votes for himself and the former Springvale ruckman might just be right up the top of the leaderboard come the last few games...

My Tip: Trevor Cranston - Glenelg - by 1 vote !!
Runner Up: Jade Sheedy - Sturt
Smokey: Steven Summerton - Port

Big Suprise: Paul Thomas - Centrals - Don't be suprised if the 2004 winner is right up there with the final count but obviously will be ineligable after being suspended twice this year.

Yeah you're probably right Centurion...

But Trev has been in pretty awesome form, but as to has his on ball brigade. I guess we'll just have to wait and see hey...

Ryan O'Connor won as a ruckman with Port in 2001, albeit tied with Tony Brown, a fellow team mate and a MIDFIELDER !!??

Hand Jade Sheedy another just for the hell of it.

Trying to think what happened after the last time he won one..
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Based on that theory Barto, they should withdraw Thommo's suspensions (already served !!?) and let him become eligible to win a second, we'll keep Daniel Schell at full forward and he will continue to kick massive bags of goals to catch Brant Chambers, overtake him and win the Ken Farmer and then hopefully the same thing as 2004 will follow come finals time...

AN SANFL RECORD WINNING MARGIN FOR A DOGGIES PREMIERSHIP (but not over the Eags, maybe the Bays instead !!)

Ohhh, it's so nice to day dream isn't it. If only all our wishes came true, I know Centrals would have won 8 in a row if that was the case...

Yes, I know I'm FOS and a bit of an exaggerater but, hey, I'm allowed to be selfish aren't I :?

Not sure this Jai guy knows what he's talking about. Slade number 10 ATM? Got to be kidding. Didn't even win it the year he was absolutely firing! No dog will win it unless someone get BOG every game for the rest of the season.

Cranston has even less of a chance than Slade. Parry the only current SANFL ruckman likely to feature in a MM count but only if the Panthers improve and challenge for the finals next season. Ruckmen need more stats than poor old Trev is managing, and more importantly more Marks.

Treeby shouldn't win it. I like to think a Magarey Medallist can hit a target by foot.

Anyway, J. Clayton looks the deserving winner at this stage to me. Always contributing, always dangerous and gets a few blokes from the opposition just trying to stop him every week.

I think they're doing a pretty good job with this.

We all know our own players better than the reporters, but it's a good concept and it's good to see that sort of publicity for the SANFL.

He would be except that he is ineligible. Was found guilty of striking earlier this year.

Well if he's been suspended twice it would be a big surprise if he won  .. sorry luv, didn't see the point of that..

Perhaps, it wouldn't be surprising to see him poll enough votes to rival the eventual winner, knowing he can't win?

Week 3 of the Race to the Magarey Medal has been launched at http://www.messengernews.com.au/article ... _news.html
On the back of his 10-goal haul Sturt's Brant Chambers not only jumps in to 20th place on the SANFL's all-time goal-kicking list but also in to the top 10 of the rankings.
Meantime, Jade Sheedy and James Allan have stretched their lead a top of the leaderboard.

Nice work. In a fair world there'd be a bookie who'd give you odds on 'Will Justin McConnell lay a tackle this week?'

If South had won a few more games I would say James Boyd would be in with a big chance. A proven vote winner at reserves and U/17 level with both medals in the cabinet. He's been averaging 25+ possessions per game.
If he won it he wouldnt be the first southie to win it without polling a first preference.....

Can anyone else confirm this? The bookies are still taking money on Clayton and he hasn't missed a game yet this year.
