I thought the track may have been a direct link between Port Adelaide and Yatala, just for public convenience!Dissident wrote:Yeah, where the skate park and wetlands are - must've stopped there, or at the Transport building the other side of Bridge road?

Classic government manoeuvre that one. Run down the service till it is almost useless then close it because no-one uses it.woodwt wrote:I used to live down the road from the Pooraka railway station and one of the reasons they got rid of it is because no one hardly used it. Mind you the trains didnt run after 6pm mon to friday and didnt run at all on saturday and Sunday.

The only railway (or anything resembling) I can figure out is that there is still a crossing on Bridge Road near the Bridgeway, I wonder if that's the Pooraka station.
Those tracks would be no good anyway if the government is spending billions on new electric train infrastructure..

I use to live 15 mins away and it always stopped at the end of South Tce where bridge rd meets. I lived in Pooraka in 1977-1987![]()
But i Dont ever remember the track going further though

There were four stations on the line
- Cavan (closed 1987)
- Pooraka (closed 1987)
- Northfield (closed 1987)
- Stockade ?
Northfield station was originally on the eastern side of Briens Road, but in 1961 it was relocated to the western side to avoid disruption to road traffic.
