a few of our supporters asked what he was doing there and and as i mentioned he said he dropped in on his way to work..at 11.30am in the morning wtf..and stayed all day and was in our rooms guarding the umpires room like it was fort knox..mind you..one of the umps prolly needed protecting if u were playing cufc or similar but its quite a slap in the face for visiting teams to be treated like that..the visitors rooms should be out of bounds for anyone not connected with the club..he might be a closet homo getting a free perve !! :D

it was 12 goals to 5 after our quick fire 4 goals, dont give urself more credit then wat u deserve

mate he's the match day official, he had the yellow tag on. yes he is employed by a security company that we use. our umpries rooms are part of the visitors rooms and as an official he's allowed to be in there.

saafl rules not ours, we just make sure the rules are followed like every other club. having done the role from titme to time the last couple of years its not one that a club official should be doing as they are not impartial or traiend if something goes wrong. twice last year i was subject to some pretty ordinary and close up abuse from opposition clubs just form trying to settle down a situation that had arisen. also finding people willing to do it is pretty difficult once you explain the role to them.

im sure he can do something turk..you dont get security gigs by being a wall flower :P

sprint: at 90% of ovals the umpires rooms are in the home sides area..thats where it gets different, at your ground you have put them in the visitors rooms..and he wasnt "in" the umpires rooms..he stands in front of the door and watches the players shower and get changed..wtf

but why do you need him in there? no-one was threatened or abused..its over kill

i have never seen security for umpires in my life.. and i have played 400 games of saafl

if you look at it from a visitors point of view its a real slap in the face to us..its assuming there will be trouble with the umpires with no previous evidence to go on..just my opinion..nothing personal mate..just found it weird..real weird

Sprint..our team manager tried to talk to umpires over an on field issue at half time and was denied entry by him..dont think he can act in that role.. ended up our captain had to go to umps as they came back at the end of the break to talk and still had difficulty getting close..great security dont get me wrong but a bit over zealous as the match day official.

dw: yeah thats a good word to use mate..he ponces around like his sh1t dont stink and its quite "off" having him in the rooms just standing there staring at everyone..he could hide inside the umpires rooms or just wait outside..its like at any second some guy is going to pull a knife out and stab an umpire so he has to be there to defuse the situation..which in turn is a slap in the face for the visitors because its assumed there will be trouble and thats why they have security there

over zealous in the extreme turk :)

fair feedback from the oppositions perspective in the end. i'm in a position to do something about it for the future.
felt the need to defend our club, him and his actual role based on what was originally stated.

it is a good idea to have someone like him at the games for those out of hand situations which pop up sometimes..just ask him to blend into the scenery better..if you got the umps to change on your side i think it would eliminate the after game problems as well..as i said earlier, beside the state of the oval it wasnt a bad set up you had there sprint

Zedman, what does it matter which side the umps change, to them all teams are equal and it doesn't matter which side the rooms are on.

In an ideal world the umps rooms would be completely seperate from both teams rooms, however we all now that we are in amateurs so the rooms are wherever they can place them.

because in this situation the blacks match day official comes into the visitors rooms to "protect" the umpires ..no visiting team has asked to have a guy watching them shower and change..so the onus is on blacks to take that person out of the visitors changerooms..how they do it is up to them..if they want to have a security guy there for the game then let their players have the guy in their room ..hence, the umpires change in the home sides rooms..

demon , the umps can get changed anywhere i agree..its just in this case the umps come with a security attachement..which no-one from the visiting club asked for

Good point Zedman, you are right the match day official is also generally and usually someone from the club itself, and you dont need them hanging around in that hall way whilst the visitors coach is trying to give his half time address, with a member of the home club listening in, he could have stood outside at least so he wasn't near the hall way.

He can escort them back to the umpires room however then just use common sense and leave them there, and then come back and get them, or let the umps come out of the room themsleves and locate him to go back on the ground, I am sure the umps feel a bit nervouse having him stand over them too.
