[flash=]FINALS FEVER!!!![/flash]

So the two games this weekend should be interesting, given the results of last weekend.

Kangy Vs Torrens Valley - Torrens Valley to beat Kangy by 3 Goals.

Echunga Vs Nairne - Echunga by 5 Goals - only time they have struggled over the years against nairne is at home.

But then again anything can happen in finals and both games should be interesting to watch.
Have the HFL decided where this weekends finals will be played????

I believe they will be doing a ground inspection today to determine ovals to be used for finals.

So they SHOULD be a flag threat with GH there and the talent at his disposal. If GH was to take the so called vacant Maccy position next year, they would be a Flag threat. And if GH was at Kersbrook.......well they wouldn't be competing in Country Div!

Cougar, any comments on Kersbroks first loss of the year? Perhaps the lost they needed to have before finals???

After you guys beat Kangy, I wouldn't have thought anyone would get close to you.

Wouldn't think so.....different Kersbrook side this year to last. More depth, added personnel and B's also in the Finals will also help. Look at Kersbrook's Finals Games past last year, and think you'll find they have a fair Major Round Record.

TV too good on the W/E. No excuses, just weren't good enough. Margins between the Top 3 sides all year have been close and this was no different. Just fell on the wrong ledger.

He is a knucklehead just quietly.

Most players that look at getting paid or worth getting paid in country football at their non local club would not get out of bed for $150. Good luck to this character

Don't know much about him but $150 a game certainly isn't any big news as that is about what you'd call 'petrol money' these days.

Well Done to josh Harris from TV for kicking his 100th goal in Jr colts on the weekend. Dont see many jnrs kicking that many goals in a year, He currently has 105.

Interesting comment GWW. I spoke to someone in the Engine Room at Cally recently and they seem sure they will be accepted into RMFL; only a matter of the member's votes to go ahead. I did have my doubts that it was that easy...........

Cally at this stage are not a viable proposition in any league, with their current hold on survival being tenuous at best. Many die-hards feel the proposition to move leagues has been sneaky, with minimal information given to supporters. Worst of all is the conveniently ignored issue that the club would not even be the Eagles anymore, since Tailem already are.

The present divisions within the club will kill it over summer anyway.

I wonder if that will be the inevitable outcome Crumber, sounds like quite a divided club, and if they don't have the netball teams as well to bring to the RMFL, then sounds like they would be better off folding or maybe even a take over by Nairne.

They definitely don't have the netball teams. They can't even get them together locally but say they will fill them with disillusioned Bridge players??????????

Nairne and Cally are enemies. The gap between them communication-wise has widened over the years. I doubt that anyone in high places from either club has had any discussions about take-overs. Funny Owen is so keen to add a side from Littlehampton/Cornerstone when all is not well at some of the clubs we already have.

I still reckon Cally's future, if they have one, lies with developing their locals and potential locals. Cut off the $ supply to ring-ins from faraway places and set up a good junior development system instead. If they can't see this, then disintegration over summer is inevitable.

In hindsight, what they should have done was merge with Murray Bridge Redlegs 4 years ago, there may have been a future as a merged entity ie. Nairne Redlegs.

As an outsider to the Hills, I'm curious to know why Callington was formed? Was it inspired by the Hills League to maybe even the number of teams up in the Country division, or was it due to the work of some local Callington residents wanting to have a team in the local league?

I'll jump in first by saying that the club was started in '94 (first season played was '95) and a guy by the name of Scott Jolly had a fair bit to do with getting the club off the ground. Origionally though the idea was to have a side that was for Mt Barker High School alum, similar to the old scholars sides that play in the amatuers in town. While I think it was a worthy idea, the problem was that most people obviously have their own clubs that they are already playing for and it proved difficult to get enough players to want to transfer to it. I knew a couple of the players that did in Leith Kamprod and Grantley Axon but they only lasted the '95 season as they felt it ended up being very different to the original concept that was put to them.
Current media identity ( if you're reading this spider) Chris Kendall I think also had a fair bit to do with the Eagles in their first seasons and I believe the name Callington was added on afterwards and the original name was just 'United Eagles'

Zed,

Do you think that Tamarappa, Toffoli and Shanahan will head back to Kenilworth, or will they follow Mitchell wherever he goes? perhaps Hackham, they are looking for a coach and players?

Zed,

Would Kenilworth want any of them back since they turned their back on the club, would they look past that and look forward to the future?

good point demon and to tell you the truth..i dont know

toffoli is a team of the century player and former captain but had a fall out with the club
shanahan has played his whole life at kenilworth till this year, so he may return
mitchell coached for 2 years and may have burnt his bridges with to many people..he would not be appointed as a coach imo and i doubt he would just play and not coach
tamarappa goes with mitchell..i rate willy very highly..would love to see him back in the choccy and blue
