Good work, but naturally there will always be contrary opinions about some players.

When you play in a bottom team, you get ignored, but if Ryan Ferguson isn't the best Centre Half Back in the league this year by a long way, I'd be amazed.

Another totally dominant performance again this week with over 30 possessions.

He'd be relatively young too wouldn't he RaB? What chance of re-drafting?

Think he is only 26 or 27, was looking at his stats in the Budget the other night. Might be an outside chance to get re-drafted, who knows ???

Watched the West v South game on telly last weekend and his courage backing into packs is unbelievable. He took a great mark like that on the weekend and alos did one just as good, if not better out at Elizabeth vs Centrals a few months back now. Unlucky, in my opinion, to be delisted from melbourne, especially considering how poorly they've gone lately. Great player, awesome to watch...

I was impressed with him the couple of times I've seen him this year, although if he's 26+ its a tough age to get drafted at.

I'd argue that Sam Rudolph, if he's considered a CHB as he plays in many roles down back, would be shades ahead of Ferguson...

Agreed TB, Make no mistake Ferguson is a very good player but if I was picking a CHB for the SANFL state league team I would be choosing from Schell (the best IMO), McLeay and Rudolph (Rudolph played CHB last week - matched up on Allaway and completely shut out the best CHF in the comp and got 13 touches to boot)

R&B one could argue Ferguson stands out more as he is a very good player in a side that is sitting 2 and 15.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Rudolph is a very good player, but has he played CHB all year?

As for playing in the bottom team, I think it's the opposite. He has a harder job and is usually playing against better players getting plenty of supply, often well delivered. It's also a natural tendency for reporters to take little notice of players from bottom teams, but to talk up players from the higher ranked teams. Ferguson has been a revelation this year and it's a big call to say Rudolph is a shade better - there's just no evidence for that.

Regardless of whether Rudolph or Ferguson is better, the fact that Ferguson isn't even on the interchange bench in that team tends to prove my point about lower teams players' being ignored.

I agree that the lower ranked teams get shafted with regards to representation in selected sides, as the Bays went for many years there with stuff all recognition, despite having some pretty darned good footballers running around in the black and gold.

My view of Rudolph is biased, but despite this, he HAS played at FB and CHB depending on the role he has been asked to perform, so could he be selected as a CHB if he has spent more time at FB? You'd probably lean towards no. Generally your CHB is a taller player, so I'd be fine with the selection of Ferguson or Schell, or McLeay (good point Tassie) in that role.

G,

In a team that struggles to have any consistent players like Westies do, the very good ones stand out more so than others. Ryan is a very good footballer and I have so much respect for the way he courageously commits his body to a contest without fear or trepidation.

It's just my opinion in that he is awesome to watch Trust me, if you saw the mark he took at Elizabeth against Centrals a few months ago, you'd agree with me. That's just my opinion mate, I'm entitled to it and your entitled to yours. I can tell you this much though, I would rather watch a courageous Ryan Ferguson fly back with the flight on the ball taking a spectacular mark any week as apposed to watching Jimmy Allan get 40 possessions, 30 of them cheap ones

I'm just having a bit of banter with G TigerBoss, hence the

I rate Jimmy Allan and would sure love him in a Doggies jumper, he is the type of opposition player you love to hate but would always be one of the first you'd love in your side. As for the comments on Bailey... Not too far off the mark I reckon :D
