Well done to HV boys :partyman: Cant say im sad to see HV B grade go up next year :D No disrespect intended just didnt want to have to come up against them again next year lol. Well done to the Valley boys.

I was down at the game today and am very interested to chat with the SAAFL on monday regarding why Aaron Brown (15) CLG was playing A Grade considering he played last week in the B Grade and the SAAFL told me he couldnt then play A's this week. There was no permit applied for on the SAAFL site either. SAAFL told me if any B Graders from last week played A Grade this week that would be breaching SAAFL rules so im interested to know what the consequence would be?

I had the same thought when i was watching him have a shot for goal and after reading what was written on here previously. I guess they had to play him after Harvey pulling out.

Heard a few different stories at the ground about why he didn't play. Each story involved him being cut and getting stitches, but I guess I can only speculate how exactly it happened because I did hear a few different versions. Unless of course scottroo wants to fill us in...?

Nah he didnt play cause Harvey pulled out cause both brown and Harvey named on the SAAFL website team sheet friday.

Given both CLG teams were playing on Sat isnt he free to play in whatever grade they select him in? Its only an issue when one team has the week off and the club tries to drop players back. Given he played the last 6 weeks or so of the minor round in the b's they were obviously ok to pick him in rd one of the finals in the b-grade and his form must have warranted a call up to the a grade.

Not according to SAAFL, they told me on Monday that no CLG player that played in the Trinity CLG B Grade Final would be able to play in this weeks A Grade HV CLG final. I asked what happens if they do play someone and she said that would be breaching the rules? A Paralowie player permit was denied to go up to A Grade this week for the same reason.

Trinity i think you have been given wrong info. Why would you not be able to promote a Bgrader to play Agrade? In 05 Joe Clavell played Bgrade all year for West Croydon including finals then was called up to do a job in the Agrade GF. I think you will find it will be fine.

Why then a Paralowie player that played B Grade last week not permitted by the SAAFL to play A Grade this week? Only thing i can think of as to why they cant is because CLG and Paralowie A Grade had the week off last week? just going by what the SAAFL told me? Otherwise that means CLG/ Paralowie could have played all their A Grade in the B's last week and then played A Grade this week? Surely you cant do that?
I realise a coach would be pretty stupid risking his best players to do that, i wouldnt but if that is the case and that is how the rules stand then they could if they wanted too is that right?

I have spoken to the SAAFL 3 times regarding finals and got 3 different stories but when i rang monday she was quite clear to me that CLG COULD NOT play any player in their A Grade that played last week in the B Grade final, so i dunno i guess i will find out 2moro cause if he can play i think Paralowie are not gonna be too happy having only been able to play with 21 yesterday and if he wasnt allowed to play then i would think WOS B Grade wouldnt be too happy being knocked out by a team doing the wrong thing?

I believe there is a big difference go up a grade than going down a grade. To me its clear cut. If Agrade get an injury during the week at training they have to be able to replace them with someone.

To help trinity out we ( Paralowie ) were told we were not aloud to bring up any B grader up on sat and had to play the 21 who were named n the A grade sheet the week before when the A grade had the week off. We had to play with 21 yesterday. I was there when told by 2 people

Told by what 2 people? That is ridiculous that you were told you have to play the 21 named on your team sheet 2 weeks beforehand. Team sheets can be changed on the day of a game for goodness sake. As I just said on your thread - unless you have in writing answers to questions you ask SAAFL good luck. They will just say bad luck and that's the end of it I'm afraid. I'd be tipping you team mgr / footy director should be questioned here, they should know the rules back to front - and the rules are pretty clear - as long as both teams are still in the finals (no matter where in the finals) players are interchangable.

You are spot on Scorpion. I haven't read up on the matter but from what I know if both teams are in the finals then anything goes.

Great win by the Dragons yesterday!! Bring on CLG...

We played very well early and were probably 10 or so up before the bad weather came in. Very difficult to peg that back in the wet!!
