My son has been 'hording' cans and bottles for the last month in anticipation of the return increase to 10c !!

Think we will wait for the 'rush' to die down first though :D

Was an interesting fact on the news last night that this is the first increase since the deposit return was introduced in 1977 ... and that if it had increased with inflation etc that our refund amount would currently be at 32c per can/bottle :o

Now to get the "scabs" to stop taking them out of the juniors development bins that all grounds have...

Clubs will make a killing if they get the bins up and around, padlock them up, and get them cashed in...

Hell if this was in in time for the Glenelg v Sturt game earlier in the year, they would've made a couple of K
with all the emptys
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

I have been collecting mine since mid-May.

I usually have about $15-20 per month in the shed.

May,June,July,August= I should have enough for two cartons....!!!!

(Plus the ones collected from work)

smac jr is unimpressed that his monopoly is about to be broken by his sister who has just worked out where he gets his spare cash from. Interesting times ahead - could be blood spilled over this!

About time we got a pay rise
1969 My brother and I went to the 5 day test match AU V WI at Adelaide Oval
Mum gave us enough $$$ to go to the first day
Back then we were resourceful boys
We rarely got $$$ from our Mum
We had a plan which we executed brilliantly
We collected all the fruita/fanta/leed/coke etc bottles during lunch/tea/and after stumps
We asked spectators for thier empties
We did well we financed enough $$$ to go 4 of the 5 days
We got 5c a can when adults were earning about $100 a week in wages.
Other kids were pinching milk money !
Ahhhh the good ol days

Memories eternal I was one of the kids who ran out on the field when Sir Garfield Sobers gotta 100
Later that night on the news I saw myself on TV shaking hands with GARY
Its a memory Gary will always treasure....
