Have heard that John Katakasi has recieved most votes to replace Vaugn Gray on the Board of Directors at GRSA.

Was there only 1 position up for grabs? As i have heard that a former Harness Racing administrator has today joined the GRSA board!

there was around 8 people contesting for the job.
some will do a good job some will not.
a few of the nominees will only push their own interests which will not help GRA at all.

Have now confirmed John Katakasi won the vote.

Former CEO of Harness Racing Mark Carey announced as the new Marketing officer of GRSA!

Now i have no idea who this guy is but hell his BAD REPUTATION does precede him.

Can someone give us a run down on exactly who this guy is and what he actually did with Harness Racing SA?

Well I read it but I don't believe it!

Some idiot has appointed Mark Carey to the GRSA Board. And what's even more a laugh is that he's the Marketing Director... Just ask some of our harness followers how good of a job he did at HRSA?

MEDIA RELEASE

Tuesday 2nd September, 2008

New Board Member Appointments for Greyhound Racing SA

The Chairman for Greyhound Racing SA today announced two new Board appointments subject to ratification by the Independent Gambling Authority and Board approval at the next Board meeting scheduled for the 17th of September.

The two new members to the Board are Mr. Mark Carey, former CEO for Harness Racing SA and Dr John Katakasi, veterinarian for Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery at Two Wells.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the two new members to the Board, once the required approval procedures have taken place,” said Mr. John Levy, Chairman, Greyhound Racing SA.

“Mr. Carey has excellent knowledge on marketing and in particular marketing to the wagering public. He has a wealth of knowledge from both his time at the TAB and Harness Racing SA. This will greatly assist GRSA to promote Greyhound Racing in this State.

“Dr Katakasi is widely known throughout the industry, directly through his racing involvement and also from his vast experience as a veterinarian, servicing many owners and trainers with the care and management of their animals. Dr Katakasi’s experience and knowledge will add great value and insight to the Board.

“The outgoing Board Members will complete their required duties on the last day of this month. Both Mr. Vaun Gray and Mrs. Catherine Barnett have been terrific members to the Board and have worked consistently over their respective terms of office,” Mr. Levy said.

I agree John Katakasi is a good appointment.

He deals with trainers on a daily basis and listens to all concerns. He has also seen and dealt with 1st hand the problem i had when having to place my own dog in a kennel. To have someone on the board that not only hears the concerns in the industry BUT also gets to see the results and effects some decisions have on our dogs SHOULD only help the industry in the long term.

As for the other appointment of MARK CAREY i dont know the guy at all so wont COMMENT apart from the fact i know quite a few people in the harness industry and NOT 1 of them can believe he actually got another job at all never mind one as a marketing officer

Cant understand exactly what bad things he has done but to not have 1 person say anything decent about him MUST be a worry.

Vaugn Gray is trying to get him to appear on 5RPH next Wednesday morning between 8-9am on the Greyhound show so i will definitely listen in to see what he has to say.
