Sanfl stuff up!

Postby gillies8 » Fri Jun 23, 2006 2:51 pm

Why when there is no AFL on Saturday would the sanfl decide to fixture 2 Friday night games and a sunday game? Surely it doesn't take to much to realise that it will be could in late June on a Friday night and why 2 games? And i bet Port supporters can't wait to head down to Noarlunga on Sunday! A golden opportunity to get a few more to the sanfl has been lost! Hopefully plenty get out to watch the dogs do a number on the bays on Saturday.

Bizzare programming decision. You'd almost think the SANFL mainly care about the Crows and Power.. almost.

The WAFL have kicked an own goal this week. On the Subi big screen last week they were advertising the 'fact' that there is "no football" this weekend. Hrm, could've sworn there was a whole round of WAFL games on. They've encouraged Dockers and Eagles members to go to the races this weekend and the jockey club have free entry for AFL members. A golden opportunity to encourage people to get out and see some great local games has been missed.

Probably why they only get 300 going to WAFL games these days.
East Fremantle v South Fremantle games excepted.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

That attitude doesn't surprise me. On the whole they have far less interest in the WAFL than what we do in the SANFL.

Far as the SANFL this weekend goes, I agree in the sense that from my point of view if the Sturt V North clash had been on Saturday, I probably would have gone to the Norwood V Eagles game on the Friday night. Is still two other games on this weekend but it does seem a bit odd that there would be 2 games on a Friday night. Has there ever been two games on a Friday night before in the history of the SANFL competition.

Yes, Round 10 2004, Sturt vs Central at Adelaide and Norwood vs South at Norwood.

There has been at least one double header on a Friday evening - Round 1 2000, Port vs Eagles and Norwood vs West at Football Park, but I think there might have been a couple in the 80s'.

From the AFL dominated media it is to be expected (SANFL fans here will remember Abernethy's famous solecism "there's no footy on this weekend...")

From the WAFL itself is inexcusable.
