We made the trek to CARlunga today with mixed feelings.
We drove the 100 kilometres up and back to see this game.
Our intentions were to park in the ground but we were too late.
It was $5 per car to get in on top of the $8 admission
It was free if you had a blue or white car.
We had not been to CARlunga for about 10 years and were
looking forward to a great day.
We parked in the $2 car park across the road which was disappointing
after we used about $15 petrol for the day.
The car park was a disgrace as the grass was about a foot high.
If it rained it would have been instant bogging.
We immediately saw a sign on entering the oval saying Collecting
of cans is prohibited[an embarassment for the club]
Next as we made our way in was seeing a sign Vilis the healthy alternative.
How can a pie or pasty be constued as a healthy alternative is beyond me.
Initially we were a bit disapointed but at half time we ventured around
to the car parking lot and talked to a few people there who LOVED the concept
A couple of PA cars said they will be back again for nuetral games.
I reckon its degrading but if it improves attendances .....
We talked to about a dozen cars who all loved the concept[and would pay more}
I was concerned that a car out of gear may roll down and........
There was a speed limit sign at 4 kms.[thats how fast some PA players ran today]
One thing the SA admin did get right was the entertainment for the kids.
There was face painting, jumping castles, handballing comps.and kids kicking
footys in the car park lots.
As for the SA footy club why has it taken decades to promote sunday footy there.
Today was a step in the right direction i guess, mainly beacuse kids had fun.
The main criticism of the day was that stupid panther growl over the loudspeakers
after every bloody goal, its worse that that dumb rooster one at prospect oval.
Mixed day, cheers.
