There was more horses at the Royal Show than nominated for Pirie Fri night. We may see the meeting transferred to GDP or abandoned! This is just the start people!!!!!

I think that the Trot mob need to take their product To the People to promote it better like they are doing at the SHOW. Not just a 1/2 hr exhibition tho But Proper races.
Lets say for 3 nights of the Show have say 5 - 6 races with say Max. fields of 6 runners to give all a chance cos of the smallness of the track.(Something that WA officials should be thinking about with Gloucester Park). Bookies would do a Roaring trade as Parents would be looking for a quick $ or 2 to replenish their wallets. The advantage of doing this, is that it would introduce thousands of people to Live harness racing for the 1st time and from that, the 20% that arse a few winners will get hooked and then may travel out to GDP in future if they can find it.

JJ
They did have exhibition time trial races at Wayville this week[or intended to ?}
There were a few horses meant to time trial with a winner and prizemoney included

from my understanding each horse (well their connections) got $100.00 for doing it which is better than going to the trials & getting nothing

as for friday i had a look at the fields for saturday & i noticed friday has port pirie & globe derby scheduled

agree with jj 100% & what they should be doing is giving away free tickets to a upcoming meeting & even if 10% of the tickets given out are used then those people have at least seen the product
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Every week at GLOBE DERBY should be free except for the Cup carnival nights and maybe 2 or 3 other occassions which I cant really think of.

i think all race meetings (the 3 codes) should be free to get in barring as you say G the big meetings, although the trots are the cheapest to get into ($5.00) while the last time i went to the dogs (about 3 years ago) it was $6.00 & i believe the races a $9.00 or $10.00 well for that $10.00 i can get a schnitzel at a pub before i'd be starting to bet

If the race clubs paid me $9 to attend instead of charging me $9 to get in, I might roll up.
I might invest $500 thru the on course TAB
I might eat there
I might drink there
I might buy a racebook
I might go in the punters club
I might fine cotton onto a sheila and buy her a drink [well G would not me]
I might make purchases from a souvenir shop[oops sorry someone might do that now]
The $9 they gifted me would make them $$$$ overall
Remarkable stratergy
Sounds stupendous
But the clubs doing virtualy SFA is stupendous

By the way the $9 would be gifted if you purchase $100 TAB voucher

HOW ?

Admission at the gate
Buy $100 worth of TAB vouchers and get $10 worth of TAB free bets
How about that !
Yeah the club gets $10 worth of commisions for that $100 turnover and breaks even
AND
I might have a drink
Might have other bets
Might buy a meal
Might buy stuff from a souvenir shop

Now why havent the raceclubs done this promotion [oops they might do it now]

Same principle applies to the trots
Buy a $50 TAB voucher = free entry and the club gets the $5 commissions back when invested

The guys on 5RPH can suggest this to the clubs perhaps

Already FREE Fridays and Mondays. I certainly wouldn't think the $5.00 entry fee would deter anyone going to GDP. What does deter people from going it that its so Friggin far from the CBD with F.ALL public transport out there.

Ive raised the location issue b4 JJ and got shot down
I live 10 minutes from GDP so its no prob for me as I have a car
But if I didnt have a car how do I get there from a NE suburb

Now whattabout JJ /MIGHTY TIGER who live deep deep south, Wayville would be reachable but mosquito land at GDP is toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far

WAYVILLE is the future of trotting if they revamp the track
Near the CBD
Young people who work in town would get there on a friday night after work[as they did in the 60s]
All public transport would get you to town from all suburbs.

I'm not sure how moving to Wayville is the future of Harness Racing, Morphetville is in the metro area with good transport and there crowds are just as poor! There's a lot more competition for the publics dollar these days. The only thing that will save the trotts is stake money!

Thousands of people rolled up at the last Interdominion carnival in Adelaide.
What does this mean ?
It means there is a potential of thousands of people that should be coaxed into returning for other meetings.
BAYMAN/MAL our kids love January at the trots.
Why ?
Becoz they have aniMALs, rides, and other exhibits in January.
My kid asks to go to the trots when its January every year.

Administators could canvass local schools near GDP and offer parents a free family pass to roll up.
Yes FREE
Lets face facts kids get hungry
Kids get thirsty
Mums need a break and sneak off to the pokies
Dads need a break and go to have a punt

BUT DONT TELL ANY ANYONE AT SAHT

FREE admission for a year if the public can pick the card
Geez everytime I offer a carton of beer on SAFOOTY to pick the card, theres a few people who havago at it

More for the 5rph boys to discuss this saturday 9-00am -10.00 am

Whaddabout this one

Imagine this race being programmed this week at GDP

1800m

1 COUNT DRE CHRISTO
2 HANNANS
3 VIA TRESTERVARE
4 ZERRAFOS
5 DRE DRE
6 BROTHER MOON
7 ELYSSES CREST
8 ON THE ROCKS

Jimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeh Jaques is the caller

On the Rocks the clear fav on the tote but you can get better in the ring
There has been a move in the ring with Zerrafos backed into favouritism
Now there scoring up
And there off
BROTHER MOON has been poleaxed and theyll go without him...
Beginning very quickly is COUNT DE CHRISTO also beginning well and going to the front is VIA TRESTERVARE
HANNANS takes on VIA TRESTERVARE and rolls to the front.
Outside the leader is DR DRE now who inturn takes on HANNANS and we have a new leader, MOWDAY handing up....
This has been an action packed race, lead time very slick
DR DRE is the leader, doing the work outside the leader is ZERRAFOS being driven forward tonight by Jeremy Seal
Behind the leader is HANNANS who will use the 5RPH sprint lane
One out one back is ELYSSES CREST
On the pegs is VIA TRESTERVARE in the running line outside it is the TAB fav ON THE ROCKS
COUNT DRE CHRISTO now comes out 3 wide and forget BROTHER MOON who was denied a fair start.
COUNT DRE CHRISTO is surging around the field and its on in front
DR DRE refuses to hand up and they are going for it in front
HANNANS gets a nice sit, ZERRAFOS gets a trial now one out one back
VIA TRESTERVARE is hemmed away
ELYSSES CREST is biding its time Harding looks confident
Relegated back to the rear is ON THE ROCKS and the fav has a big job to do
Forget BROTHER MOON

.......
Coming to the home turn DR DRE being challenged strongly by COUNT DRE CHRISTO who puts the nose in front
Hooking out 3 wide is ZERRAFOS and coming quickly
Harding stays in on ELYSSES CREST
HANNANS now uses the 5rph sprint lane
Behing it VIA TRESTERVARE is badly held up Cavawizard trying to come one off
ON THE ROCKS comes out 4 wide and forget BROTHER MOON

COUNT DRE CHRISTO goes to the front
Here comes ZERRAFOS
ZERRAFOS
COUNT DRE CHRISTO
ZERRAFOS
COUNT DRE CHRISTO
50 metres to go
ZERAFOS puts his nose in front
COUNT DE CHRISTO fighting back
and ON THE ROCKS is flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyying
ZERAFOSS, ON THE ROCKS awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I dont know
Leave it to the judge
COUNT DE CHRISTO not far away followed by ELYSSES CREST, HANNANS, behind those VIA TRESTERVARE, DRE DRE knocked up and forget BROTHER MOON went around

Heres the result ON THE ROCKS gets up in the last stride

All clear no enqiury on the start for BROTHER MOON an animated punter with a Glenelg scarfe is remonstrating vehemently in the grandstand.

_________________________________________

That was just an action packed race
Now after this race opinions divided in the ring about driving tactics
Why did drivers hand up , why did they keep the lead, was BROTHER MOON denied a fair start?
Will Mowday get suspended for handing up ?
This is what can happen at the trots on any given race

NOW

My idea for the 5rph boys

LETS RUN THIS RACE THE FOLLOWING WEEK AGAIN
SAME HORSES
SAME DRAWS
NON PENALTY RACE
Call it the REPEAT STAKES

Imagine the interest the following week ......

Yeah I asked about 12 trainers if they would run thier dogs in a repeat race
10 said yes
2 were not sure
NO TRAINER SAID NO
I have put the concept up to GRSA but its been knocked back.

My point being TRY
Not TRYing = no success the way clubs are going

I have never put a submission in to SAHT but perhaps it might be a goer ?

Give us a spell with the trying to attract crowds, it wouldnt matter if you got 2,000 people to the next 75 meetings in a row, the joint wont be any better of unless they Bet BIG.

Hrsa is broke, all they can do is not make any mistakes.

The club is the only joint in the world with pokie machines who cant return any substantial profit.

The only hope the state has is the government throw more in (unlikely) or turf the blokes in control of the club and use its assets to generate an income stream sufficient to sustain stake money increases.
