2. those interstate
3. those overseas

Just on that thought, It might be suprising the number of I/S O/S poster there are on here.

And how active they are on here too, especially on gamedays.

Good point JTC. Since relocating, this site is almost my sole source of footy news and results. The AFL website is USELESS (but that's a whole other thread) and the blow by blow updates by Thiele, Locky, M80's and others (apologies for missing them out!), the SANFL coverage here is 2nd to NONE (despite the bias and baiting, which I find quite amusing) and the Regional Footy League threads are the only source of scores, news etc that you'll find anywhere bar the local budget.

The other General threads are great too, not to mention the Beautiful Game thread!!!

In a way, the sites' history goes back to FootySA, which was started in early 2002. The story about how it came into being is here: http://footysa.com/index.php?title=The_ ... SA.com_FAQ While registration became compulsory in January 2003, the lack of moderators and from what I can gather a more basic system saw it hard to keep up with those libelious posts. Therefore the forum was taken down about the 24th of October 2005. Wedgie went into emergency action and this forum came into being a couple of days later. While the FootySA forum did come back in March 2006, it was taken down permanently later in that year, again because I think one of the mods went overseas, and another went interstate (don't take that as a concrete statement though, but roughly that's how it went). ;)

Also, a criticism from users of FootySA in 2005 was the number of off-topic threads. There was a cricket forum as well, but this site (being a phpBB board) was really the only answer to deal with other topics that SANFL fans could discuss without them getting mixed in with the main topic - the SANFL.

Yep, the posts above are pretty well spot on, Ive seen other online communities disband quickly and never get back together so I was keen to get something up and running ASAP when Footysa's forum was closed.
I asked a lot of the people who were moderators or ran the site to be involved with SAFooty when it started but most turned down the offer politely, I then went about getting together a group of people to steer this site from many backgrounds and clubs many who quite often had run ins with me in the past so the site would be run fairly.
Footysa will always be the insperation for this site and we're very proud to call Footysa our Daddy hence the similar name! :D
