And then were 2.

Cobra's V Emu's

What a cracker it promises to be, Emu's the favourites? Just maybe give the previous 4 years experience. Cobra's full of talent and promise. both with big following's and Junior`s playing big crowd hopefully good weather.

Do you reckon we could get on centre bet??

dont get too see too much sfl, but, watched morphies v brighton today, did brighton have a winner for the day?? they were seriously smashed all over the ground, by an outfit that was harder and tougher when it mattered, but the game was basically over in the first quarter 3 goals up into a breeze, it almost looked like men against boys out there!!! if cove saw that today they would be worried, but i was impressed, go you emu's!!!
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!

By the sounds of it the Emus have hit A1 form at the right time! Amazing scoreline, who were the better players? (altho im sure everyone played well). Saw the 2nd half of Cove and Port yesterday and it must have been a horrible first half by the cobras. In the 3rd quarter they got a run on and Bergman didnt make enough moves for my liking. Needed to drop at least 2 players back with the wind being as strong as it was. I thought Schneyder worked hard and Vick had the class to kick 3 in the 3rd term to really set the Cobras alight.

Tough task for the Cobras to knock off the finals hardened Emus. They jus know how to win the big games but it could go either way if the Cove big guns get there hands on the footy!

Disappointingly was the crowd behavior at the Southern end during the last quarter. Their needed to be a patrol car at the ground for the A grade at least. At the 3 qtr time huddles you could sense it was about to erupt somewhere around the ground with opposition supporter going overboard with the 'banter'. I was a big advocate for the GF to be at a suburban ground whether that be Porties or another deck but while this sort of thing happens it cant. From what i hear if the same amount of security was at Pt Noarlunga on Saturday that will be atg Hickinbotham this weekend the trouble would most likely never have occured. Disappointing and took the gloss off a good game of footy!

Came for the kids games stayed for the day.
Firstly well done Shoe Boys on managing the day especially the car parking.
As one spot was exited a Shoe parking attendant with a walkey-talky was letting his mates near the gate know and they told the new arrival were they could find it.
The food was available for sale all day and they never ran out of beer. Good Job Shoe Boys. I Hope you made some money, I heard you paid the League $10K to get those two finals game days.
The Brighton / Morphetts A grade game was a good spectacle up to half time.
Then the Morphett boys just took over I guess they know how to play when it counts.
Ya gotta love the crowds heckling of the players though especially to the team that starts the rough stuff and they still keep loosing on the score board i.e. Brighton.
Calling the guy show bags and pie eater was one of my favorites.
I guess you gotta get you 6 bucks worth for the day.
It was a little disappointed though when in the north east pocket I saw a Brighton supporter with his two kids about 6 & 5 want to pick a fight with a Morphetts supporter cos he was heckling a player on the field. It went something like “You #%^&*% I’ll take you on send you best guy from that group over and we’ll have it out right here”. Come on mate I don’t think Brighton needs you to defend their player’s honor and if you can’t take you’re team getting heckled form the crowd then you’re following the wrong sport, go watch netball, I hear you can’t yell out much at all there.
I heard the guy is one of the past player brothers at Brighton and he has a black belt in some fighting disciple. I guess it’s not origami. Aren’t those disciplines suppose to teach you discipline????

Saw the incident, thought it was worth a 50, maybe a yellow card definetly not a red.
The umpire initially looked like he was just going to pay the free untill the melee started and then he had second thoughts. Seen much worse.

I have posted previously on my support for the return to Pt Noarlunga for our grand final BUT after the actions of some I for one can not and will not support again. I don't care what started the incident but the mob mentalety of some was nothing but a disgrace.

Pt Noarlunga you know who was involved and as host of the day you should at least repremand members that got involved in a spinless act of thugery or I am sure your football club will find itself on the outer when finals come around in the future,and that would be a sad day for SF footy. :evil:

What a joke that was. I went down there today as a supporter of Cove and found it disgraceful not only the behavior of some of the host club's alleged members and also I assume Cove supporters having a go at the SFL Officials there. The response was this is the exact reason why the Grand Final is at South.

back to the game of footy, Pt Noarlunga played extremely well in the first half and deserved to be up at half time. They were first to the contest and were clean with the pick up. Cove fumbled and stumbled in front of goal and were lucky to be still in it at the long break. 2nd half was all Cove and showed why they have been the top side all year.

I didnt get to the game, what happened behind the goals?

Porties put on a good show for the day, yes it was a pitty about the wankers behind the goals and from what i gather it was members from both clubs. the problem is that if the SFL werent shark farts and put on extra security or police for the day these problems wouldnt happen. it dosent matter which club these people came from it would happen know matter what. these people are these ones who are the wanna bees and dont have kids and are the ones who ruin every year. they dont have respect for either club and are the piss minders who the clubs dont want to associate with.

People need to remember dont point the finger at the host club. Cove need to remember not to point the finger cause there history with fights is so F******g great either.

Well played noompsy, cove have a lot of good behaviour to go before they can start chatting other clubs about spectator behaviour!

Bj We had two behind the ball and a third withthe ruckman told to play the back half
The truth is we played dumb footy in the third quarter and had far too many turnovers caused thru the way we played Cove capiltised on that got the run on and we did not man up.
Mannion and Ohagan played behind the ball both good usually at this game. Ohagan got injured and Gillard took his place. Still with a young side they were instructed to play possession footy not good enough at it obviously.Will bounce back with the amount of kids in the side hopefully they have learnt and will be better for the experience.
Mannion retired Saturday and even though leaving a big hole we wish him the best.

Your name should be Numpty. You GATHER in other words you no idea what went on. As earlier posted it was not supporters from either club who caused the trouble it a few idiots from elswhere. Also I have not seen Cove or Porties point the finger of blame at anybody.

What a great day at the Shoe with some good weather a great crowd and some good footy. The 16 game was a cracker with Brighton kicking a goal on the siren to bring the scores level.(Brighton went on to win the game in extra time)
Who would of picked the result or the margin in the A grade (not me) M/Vale were very good and Brighton just were not given a chance all over the ground. The Bailey boys were outstanding and also no12 small in the forward half. So there goe's my tip so I am getting on the M/Vale ban wagon after a performance like that.
GRAND FINALS NEXT WEEK
14= F/HILL V COVE
16= M/VALE V BRIGHTON
18= COVE V BRIGHTON
B= BRIGHTON V REYNELLA
A= COVE V M/VALE

Fly
being serious mate.
No Reynella in the finals.
While they have not been able to crack it for a Grand Final win in the A's for a while, they have been up there.
Their juniors have been pretty successful.

No juniors have made it this year!!

Has the club put all their energies into the seniors and neglected the juniors?

Reynella had 14's and 16's in the Prelims didn't they? Think they may have been favourites in both, i'm suprised they didn't make it through. The Reynella junors are still definately around the mark.

A Mum, I can answer that question for you. The league also has 2/3s, 4/5s and 6/7 which play on a Sunday before the C graders.

I was also at the Shoe on Sunday and was amazed with the standard of footy the Emus played. I have been on the Emus all year and with their experience in playing in GFs, reckon they'll continue their winning form into next week.

The gutless act of Rob Miles to elbow young Bayly was a disgrace, but I expect nothing more to come from this judging by our leagues past record in deciding a players punishment.

And does anyone know if any league officials saw Fishlock's behind the play punch on Brookman?

M/Vale awsome on the day, much more composed and worked hard for each other. Taught the Bomber boys a lesson in how to be strong in a contest.
and good call on the bailey boys, great players.

I think the Emu's will be to good for Cove next week.... I dont think anyone in the SFL can match them.

An interesting weekend of local footy (on and off the field). Saw the best and worst of Hallet Cove on saturday. At 1/2 time i am sure i wasnt the only one thinking that cove have choked again. But a vick inspired third 1/4 got them back in front and Porties had run out of legs.

On Sunday the emus showed that at this time of year you need to take it up a level and boy did they!! Smith did what he has done to every forward this year and that was dominate from the backline, whilst holding his opponent to nothing. Bode dominated the ruck all day, polly kicked a bag, Bayly boys did as they pleased and Starter Gaskin was a pillar of strength (especially the first 1/4). However whether you win a prelim by 1 point or 106 points the scenario remains the same and emus must reproduce the same form this saturday. Fortunately they have some experience in this regard.
