Domestic Violence

Postby ORDoubleBlues » Fri Nov 25, 2005 9:35 pm

Keep hearing all this talk about domestic violence and trying to stop it but you will never stop it or even reduce it until women change their attitudes about what type of men they wan't to be with and that will never change, because it is in their makeup to wan't to be with those type of guys.
Do feel sorry for the ones that get started on after years of the relationship but the ones who hang around with the attitude "I can change him", I have absolutely no sympathy for whatsoever.

Domestic violence will never change... until she learns to have the dinner ready on time.

(yeah, that was awful and I know it. I give it 30 minutes until this post is deleted)

Funny how "Domestic violence to women, the Australian Government says No!" Um, so the women can attack men, knowing that they can't fight back??? Maybe the Government should have used <insert oxymoron> and said that they say "No" to domestic violence in general, instead of their sexist dribble.

That TV ad with the guy with the baseball bat is a classic. Very funny.

Agree with ORDB - i have a friend at uni who says she only wants to be with a guy who treats her mean. Her ex treated her like crap - didn't physically abuse her, but told her what to wear, eat, that type of thing. She'd come to uni crying saying about what a jerk he is for treating her badly, they break up, and now she is trying to get back with him. There are some very stupid people in the world. She could get any guy she wanted, but instead she is just a domestic violence statistic waiting to happen.

I hope the word assholes means something to you all. How insensitive, having been a victim of domestic violence i find your small minded attitiudes disgusting. Black eyes and broken bones do not make it easy to leave where you are then further judged by people who do not have the facts. And yes there are as many women abusing their men as their are men abusing women, but even many more who know there is something wrong in a friends relationship and do nothing to HELP.

Before you go calling people assholes, go back and re-read what has been said. Its clear from the above posts that no-one here is condoning Domestic Violence. What is frustrating for "normal" males who wouldn't even consider hurting their partner is to have a barrage of violence against them and not being able to do anything but grin and bear it. Society accepts it so what do you do. Like you said it can go both ways. By the way I'm sorry that you had to go thru the experience you did.

1. I'm sorry? Did i miss something? 1 or 2 comments weren't exactly PC, but not all of them.

2. What an un-rewarding experience- sticking your nose into other peoples domestic matters would not result in the person recieving thanks for their efforts. More like F#$k Off & mind your own business- probably from both parties.

I'm not exactly employed to solve the social ills of the civillised world, but surely choosing not to tolerate DV, or be a victim, is something that needs to come from within.

How hard would it have been for the Government to have the advertising aimed at both genders? Same cost for ad campaign, double impact.
