Sturt's new facility - Bar Zaar

Postby zipzap » Wed Jun 28, 2006 2:02 pm

(From db.org) Sturt's new revenue raising exercise on Unley Road is officially going to be called BAR ZAAR!
At first I thought it sounded like some ruthless sheep character from Animal Farm but after seeing the logo it has grown on me.
Who cares eh? As long as it rakes in the $$$

The sort of crowd attracted by that pretentious bollocks will boycott the joint when they find out a footy club runs it.

The noun Zaar has one meaning:

Meaning #1: a Chadic language spoken in northern Nigeria

Good to see the Sturt footy club promoting the learning of promiscuous languages and pokie playing at the same time. Perhaps this bar will appeal to the new wave of African migrants to the Adelaide areas.

Are they too embarassed to include Blues or Sturt in their name?
What a barzarre name! :?:
I drive past it every day and at the rate its getting built/renvovated they should call it 2010 as that's about when it will be ready.
BUT most importantly good luck to them, I was talking to someone in the gaming industry recently and they said market projections weren't that good when compared to some existing clubs (expecting 1/6th of the turnover of one of the established clubs) but should hopefully be enough to keep Sturt going.

Did a quick google and found athe only other Bar Zaar in Singapore, wtf is the insperation?

no, just that the club is trying to attract as much business as possible, not everyone in the area is a football or sturt fan so to appeal to as many ppl as possible (but still trageting a certain market) they would choose a hip, modern name and logo and most probably deck the place out that attracts the targetting clientele...and of that area, im guessing very chic, business, yuppy types ;), types with ******* CASH!!!!!!!!   :D

Building a pokies parlour on Unley Rd always raised a few question marks for me. Sturt fans just have to have faith that the market research has been done. Perhaps they are classier than your average pokies

Anyway, in the context of things I'm sure a name isn't going to make much difference.
If a quality establishment is set up people will return because of the atmosphere/facilities and not the name.
Hope it all goes well for Sturt.
(It'll give their supporters one less excuse when North pump them ;))

The pokies are the $ winners, but without on field success the social side of the club will not flourish.I would guess most of the people who would frequent this establishment would not be there to support the Sturt FC but to merely fritter away their hard earned. As Wedgie said,I would have thought yuppies or whatever you would like to call them would be the least inclined to spend time throwing money into one of those noisy light machine boxes.

Anyone been to the Cremorne? It rakes in the dollars and is in an evening snobbier part of Unley. I reckon they'll make a sh.tload at this new joint. It's easy to access, has heaps of parking, very prominent, etc.
