Yeah I know, but I was peaking for those 4 weeks. It was not registered in my name but was in my old man's, he would have hit the roof.

 Just as well you didn't get the fine. :)

you should drive down lonsdale highway down to where the marion golf course is, they dropped the speed limit from 80 to 60 recently and have had speed cameras out there twice this week at night

You have been refering to Radar cameras, not radar guns, this state (as do most) have both, in QLD they have been know to be hidden inside rubbish bins. Where have you been for the last 15+ years?????????????

Years ago the tolerance was 10kmh, it was changed to 10%, the ADR's require speedo accuracy to be within 10% if reading sloer than actual speed, no limit if reading higher than actual speed, most read 7-10kmh higher than the actual speed so if you were to sit your speedo on the limit you should never get done.

Victoria's tolerance is 1% for heavy Vehicles, 3% for all others, I'm suprised no one has challenged it in court yet.

yeah thats a shocker, why did they change that?

Was on Marion Rd last night and the Sign was only 30m past the camera car meaning about 20m before you got to the camera your headlights clearly showed the sign giving you plenty of time to drop speed!

I have noted after checking it against several of those "Check your Speed" sites on Victoria's roads and going by the majority result that our old Musso reads high so when the Speedo says 105 kph it is doing 100. The Audi reads 3 kph high at 100.

well the only idea that I can come up with the change in speeds going down hill is revenue raising

i didnt think there were that many accidents in that section of road previously.

The other trick is multiple changes of limit along the same road - especially if you chuck in the odd 70 zone instead of the usual 60 or 80 and put the signs behind a bush!!
Keeping the motorist confused pays.

Obviously the SA government has realised Vicgov is on a nice little earner allowing less tolerance than the 10% legally required of speedometers!

The problem then is do you know how accurate the speedo is or should you always do 10% under to play safe?
The machines I took an average from for my car are also quite variable, and while the police say the laser guns are spot on I have never seen the technical proof of that.
The last time I was pinged was 3 years ago so I don't have a personal axe to grind, except the fact that state governments have always lied about this sort of thing.

The latest in Victoria.
You are legally obliged to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle, but if the only way to do so is to enter an intersection against a red light and you get pinged you can write in and they won't fine you but you still get 3 demerit points...
