In saying that, in the last 5 minutes of our grand final in 2005, I ran a pint of beer out to Scott Darrington and Louie Martin

I thought you couldn't bring alcohol ONTO the ground!!

The boys were standing at full back, and I was standing at the fence at Coopers Hill pocket, and one of the blokes on the hill gave me their pint

I've got a photo of it somewhere I reckon..

Lets just say Ash, that any officials at the game had more pressing issues to deal with at the time :?

Re catering at Thebarton Oval Div 1 Grand Final:

I just wanted to set the record straight on the catering setup from the GF. Whilst the Gepps Cross Junior Football Club manned the booths to do the work, they had no input whatsoever into the ordering or organising of items to be sold.
During the leadup, a gentleman who has had many years of experience in catering, offered his services, expertise and some equiment to the SAAFL but was told it was not necessary, all was under the control of MS. The Northgate club even offered to buy any 'leftover' cartons of beer
The catering was an absolute debacle, the order for pies/pasties was 10 dozen, yeh you got it, 120 units for a crowd in excess of 2000 people, suffice to say all were gone before 3/4 time in the B grade final. The snags lasted about a half hour longer.about 10 loaves of bread, you got to be joking
Several trips were made to BWS to buy more grog and several more loaves of bread in an attempt to keep the crowd happy.
All this took place whilst the hierachy were in an upstairs room entertaining each other, bet they didn't run out up there.

Suggestion, next year, take some advice from someone that knows what to do and how to do it, I guarantee there wont be the problems that existed yesterday.
Well done to the volunteers who had a fair bit to put up with yesterday from abusive and impatient customers, maybe this will throw some light on how and why it happened.

My hat goes off to the Gepps Cross volunteers, I do feel sorry for them copping un- needed abuse which should be directed firmly to Shadiac & his team not the volunteers but unfortunately that was to be expected.
The Amateur League would be fully aware of the dissappointed supporters behaviour but couldn't give a rats as aceman said they were perched upstairs entertaining each other with freebies all day. ( who do they think they are? )
I think some huge changes are warranted at Amateur House immediately & they'd want to be ready for alot of negative publicity after that debacle on Sat, interesting hearing how proffessional the Southern League Grand Final was run yesterday, NOT RUNNING OUT OF BEER & FOOD also a more respectable $5 ENTERANCE FEE obviously far more proffessional from the hierachy's of that League, well done to them thinking of their supporters & showing far more respect for their followers.
Greed & disrespectful are the 2 words i discribe our Amateur League on the $8 entrance fee & pathetic dis-organisation of catering.

did not go to SAAFL GF for all the reasons above. ventured to Mallala to watch APFL GFs. $9 to see 4 games [+netball ]. plenty of food [with a good selection ] and drink. good crowd and atmosphere and things seemed to run well with the presentation of medals etc after each game not holding up the following game. well done to the host club and the league. congrats to all players who took part ,it was a good day at the footy.
