Buying A New PC, Don't Want To Be Pantsed Over Price

Postby Punk Rooster » Fri Jun 30, 2006 5:29 pm

I need some good advice-
Do I build my own PC?
Can someone here build one (like Stubbs the Builder, not O'Riley the Builder...)
What is considered good value?
Some basics I want (these are probably standard anyway...)

DVD Player/Burner (this obviously does CD's too?)
Latest Windows (must have Outlook, not O/look Express)
Pentium 4 (is there a few versions of this, or just 1?)
Maximum HD (whatever the going rate is)
Relevant cards for DVD use etc
Flat screen monitor
Tower Box (every Box I've had has been flat)

I take it a lot of Outlets try & sell you crap you don't need, to increase their sales.
I mainly use Word, Excel & Outlook for work, surf the net a bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

I could point you in the right direction, or, organise one for you myself. I run a webdesign & systems business and sell PCs to friends, family, and friends of friends.

I buy everything wholesale and mark it up about 3% (for the hassle/petrol whatnot).

I also take the PC home and spend a day setting it up, installing software etc. I only build/make something I would use myself.
